Hi and welcome,

There was just lots of answers to similar questions in http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16234
and http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16241
You could check those.

It is good idea to leave starter island when you think you can master basic game mechanisms. Some players leave at lvl1 but some other wait until lvl 50, lvl 20 may be most common time to leave. Advancement in starter island will slow down a lot after lvl 20 as there is no challenging mobs or anything.

You should first focus on been fighter, then start magic career. Reason for this is that in lower levels You need all magic points what You get. So if You can buy stuff from fighters skill tree, it will help a lot.

Personally i would get all the four skill trees up to 20 before you leave the island - not that its necesary really because theres low level mobs near all the towns on the mainland anyway (so i wouldnt worry to much) its just that off of the island there are higher level mobs aswell.

but if you get all 4 skills to 20 regardless at least you should by then have learned some of what each is about and what you like doing.

if you arent into harvesting or crafting then they are really not necesary - but melee and magic are - melee for the hit points and magic for at least getting a few healing spells even if you never consider being a mage. (having healing is goog even if its just so you can res people)

Its quite easy to get melee up to about 35 in a few hours - and that should set you up ready for the mainland - also by selling the mats you loot (hint - hunt gingo or goarii - lots of mats) you should have a fair bit of cash when you get to the mainland.

Hmm ive done the starter islands a few times maybe i should write a newbie guide.
