Ok everyone...I have a few more questions for you experts.
So far Im doing pretty good in game and getting ever closer to heading to mainland. Im 27 melee fighting, 26 Offensive magic, 25 Foraging, 20 crafting. Once I get melee and Offensive magic to 30 Im going i think.
Anyway...I spent practically all day yesterday harvesting and crafting. I came up with a few questions related to that an a fewe other things. Well here they are:
- Crystalization. Ok I had seen mention of this but didnt really understand it. But I take it now that all it is.... is you can right click on a spell you have and select crystalization. You "harvest/get" a crystal thing that you then can right click on and select it to be placed on a weapon in your right hand. (seems a bit too easy to me but whatever)
My questions are.... typically does this raise the resale value of a weapon? Ive noticed another power that I think allows you to recharge the powers you put on the weapons? I take it you cant overwrite the power with a new one if you want to? Basically after you do this you just make a special attack with the stanza for the power you crystalized and hit it when you want power to go off right?
- Ok a couple harvesting questions.... Ive noticed that many materials seem to "spawn" over and over all the time at same spot. Mainly I notice this with fine and choice stuff. In the mainland it's the same way I take it? Always appearing at the same place most the time.
- I take it at some point you must be able to extract more then 1 qty of an item at a time right?
- Ive many times been able to extract 6-8 choice mats at a location before losing it for a bit... if they explode on me I typically take 100-150 dmg or so...Ive heard on mainland the explosions are much more damaging?
- So far on the newb island the Kami stat on extracting doesnt seem to come into play. Is this actually implemented on the mainland?
- Ok im a little confused on spell progression as well. I have acid 2 for instance ok..... there are 2 upgrades it appears on the magic training list. There is a Acid 3 and a acid upgrade. Now I saw the same thing on Cold. I had version 2 and I had a choice between paying 5 for cold upgrade or like 25 for Cold 3. Best I could tell from looking at the stanza descriptions on them it seemed like upgrade does the same thing as buying Cold 3 but for less cost? I dont get it. Anyone can explain this in a easy way I can understand?
Thanks.

Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
Yes please somone tell me about crystallization and whenever I enchant my sword with a spell there is a sap crystal icon on it and a big fat zero on top of the crystal. Does that mean that the spell is at zero power thus useless for my weapon?
Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
The spawn sites are generaly static. Keep in mind that a particular site may be affected by day/night or season. But no random switches afaik.tekkor wrote: - Ok a couple harvesting questions.... At a higher speed/rate and a stanza for longer time on a source (prospecting) you will be able to get >1tekkor wrote: - I take it at some point you must be able to extract more then 1 qty of an item at a time right?
The upgrade is just the stanza for Cold 3, whereas the spell Cold 3 will contain other stanzas that may or may not be useful to you. So, the cost for the piece Cold 3 is always the same, but you have the choice of buying other stanzas at the same time.tekkor wrote: - Ok im a little confused on spell progression as well. Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
I highly recommend page 50 of the game manual as it has very good information on sap and spell crystals and their uses. Or search the forums for weapon enchantment.
Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
you right click on the spell you want to crystalize, and you take the crystalized version to put on your weapon. once you crystalize the weapon, you need to cast sap crystal to turn some of your sap into a similar crystal, which you then need to charge the weapon with in order to be able to use the spell. Once that is done, you can put to use the 'use item enchantment' action found in the default fight stanza.
more detail can be found in the manual.

Thanks for the quick reply
Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
Regarding Crystalization:
First: You need an enchantment cristal:
a: You can make your self by right clicking an action in your bar and choosing "Cristalize". Some actions can't be cristalized.
b: You can also purchase an enchantment from another person.
Second: You need to enchant the weapon. Right click the cristal and choose "Enchant right-hand" (or left hand depending).
Third: You need Sap Crystals. You can obtain these two ways:
a: Learn "Create Sap Crystal" from the Magic trainer. You can purchase upgrades to the skill aswell.
b: Find someone making or selling them and purchase.
Fourth: You need to load your weapon. Right click the Sap Crystal and load up your weapon to a full sap load.
Fifth: Click your "Use weapon enchantment" action to use the enchantment on the current target and it will drain the alloted sap from your weapon.
Tips:
* It costs an equal amount of dapper to make Sap Crystals. (IE: a 1 charge crystal costs you 1 dapper to make)
* Enchantments take differing amounts of Sap Crystals to use, normally the lower the level spell the lower the cost.
* Create Sap Crystals can be upgraded by buying the upgrade spells in the magic trainer. They give more sap per crystal.
* You can locate the amount of Sap Load on your weapon in the weapon's info box.
* Be sure to reload your sap frequently!
* If you've lost your use enchantment buttony ou can get it back by going to your action menu (a) and dragging it out.
I hope that information is useful for anyone that needs it =) I make Enchantments and Sap Crystals in the Matis newbiegrounds if you need!

Re: some questions...(crystalization etc etc)
Thanks for the quick answers. I think I understand the whole spell upgrade thing now...thanks on that. Ill go with buying the blocks myself on spells i already have...seems the better way to go point wise and just get what you need to make the power like you need it.
On crystalization I will look at page 50 in the book again when I get home. Seems like I remember reading it and still didnt understand it. Im getting closer to understanding it though.....correct me if Im wrong in my dumb person understanding of it....
- Step 1: Figure out weapon you want to enchant and put in right hand.
- Step 2: Figure out spell you have that you want to use as enchantment.
- Step 3: Right click on spell, select crystalization...then take all for crystal.
- Step 4: Right click on crystal in inventory and select "enchant right-hand" or whatever it says.
- Step 5: You need to get SAP crystals to "charge" the enchantment.
- Step 6: Either make them with magic bought power "Create SAP crystal" or buy them from another player.
- Step 7 : Right click on SAP crystal and "load" it to your weapon.
- Step 8 : You can right click weapon to use power (or hopefully build it into a attack somehow)
Ok so does that basically describe it? (Chevelle I know you did same thing sorta I just had to say in my own words to make sure I understood it hehe)
One question.... the SAP load your weapon has is based on its original construction correct? It doesnt change once you put the enchantment on it does it?
