Creative Director's Letter to the Players, June 30th

Post by lawrence »

Creative Director David Cohen Corval has just published a new article, where he talks about long-term plans for Saga Of Ryzom in regards to PvP combat and roleplaying aspects.

The article also features some nice, exclusive SoR design sketches.

Great read, I love his vision. I am prepared to wait for something like this to become reality. Even hits of a space element, not just tp'ing between planets :)

Love the concept art and the villages on those beasts. Along with those new mount creatures :)

Only 5% of Atys, granted none in the last year but that means a lot to go. I would be interested in seeing a couple of new areas soon, maybe after outposts....

Overall great letter and keep them coming :)

Anime I recommend: Scrapped Princess, Last Exile, Trigun, Wolfs Rains

David: You continuously mention homin rebuilding the civilization and eventually extending beyond atys which brings up two issues.

1)Kami are creatures of atys, so it will be interesting to resolve how they will be also granted space travel.

2)Will we be able to use Ryzom Ring editing tools to modify outposts and/or build new cities for incorporation into the actual game?
And a very thoughtful recommendation for the next step after outposts -> Stick with Ryzom Ring, enhance it. Give players more freedom than you initially intend. Allow us to pull in mocap scripts for custom emotes, import textures, and maybe design some new buildings. The player base is chock full of talented programmers.

Oops it looks like Ryzom will outlast my short mortal life. I hope to enjoy it through and through.

Today, we have less than 5 % of Atys open for exploration

That is a mind-boggling fact! I had no idea just how huge Ayts was! Very exciting news!!

Also, I finally understand why the planets name is not in the title. I can't wait to tell all my friends about this!
I live in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here!

I was debating whether or not I liked where this game was going and if I was going to stay. After reading this letter I think this game still has potential and I'm going to stick around. :)

The only thing I worry about is that there appears to be no peaceful solution whatsoever! The sides are going to turn on each other, war will come and homins will either be on a side or trapped in the middle. I vote we send all combatents to the next planet that becomes available while we get to explore the remaining 95% of Atys!

Love all the inspirational ideas and I hope that everything works out the way it's planned to. I look forward to being here for it.
