Need a Dev or PR answer to a Dungeon/Instanced zones question?

Post by stangmar »

Ok going to make this short and sweet.

When can we expect to see smaller dungeons not the roots if at all in game. Will there be dungeons in the near future (forts as well). For instance a month or two. Or are smaller finishable dungeons not going to happen.

Also when can we expect instanced zones? Myself and others would like a time frame on that as well.

I do not want a few random quotes. I am looking for an answer from either the PR team or someone from the development team.

Thanks.

Thanks.

my guess is that stangmar is asking not for a dungeon zone but for *small* dungeons. Something you can *finish* (in opposition to the prime roots which are not designed to be finished but to explored over a LONG period of time).

I second both the desire for *classic* dungeons and for a (semi-)official statement and would like to add the question if instanced zones are planned for SoR.

Yes, thats exactly what I was asking I just edited my post. I know about the roots but I mean to ask about the small dungeons and instanced zones.

Thanks for clearing that up for me ayne31.

What would be the purpose of such a thing? How would it relate to the game or story? What would you consider finishing them?

There was little information given on how it was going to be done, but I am sure I read in a dev chat or interview about new things of this nature. Bear in mind though, this is not WoW, it must fall into the storyline and may be a future hero/guild quest activated by other actions. It sure wouldn't fit this game to have lines for certain instanced zones like in other games.

Typically instanced type zones have a boss mob at the end with uber loot, which doesn't fall in line with SoR storyline unless they are guardians of the "jewels", "seeds" or "Kamibast". Those are the things you find sprinkled in timelines and history which we have not even touched yet, but the sage and other NPC's in town mention.

There are named areas in every land with uber mobs with a guild only nature for difficulty. Any of these could have a portal in them taking us to the next part of our history making adventures in Atys. I do believe none of this is implemented yet (and doesn't need to be quite yet, but soon before we lose faith in their priorities). Even if they are implemented, there are places nearly impossible to get to without an epic team and they will not be accessed commonly as in other games I am fairly sure.
