Stealth Patch: Auras visual effects

Post by vinnyq »

I don't remember, is this new? Or did they finally patch this in (mentioned in the glimps of production article), but not mentioned in the patch notes?

I am talking about the auras graphics when you turned on Melee shield or Anti-Magic aura etc, there's the white shiney image surrounding you.

Another thing I noticed, wandering NPC tribes would occassionaly pick up their walking pace and start running to their destination.

I gotta tell you, whoever decided to make it like that is smurt. It adds a greater feel of urgency and immersion just seeing them running off, and not just walking slowly across the terrain.

I also had a chat with a good friend of mine tonight, she's mainly a digger, and she said that it's a new change that herbivores will sometime run from carnivores now, and sometimes stick around to fight (fight or flight!), where as before, they always fight. I am not sure on this one, I thought this has always been the case, way before the recent patches.

Anyhow, not sure if you would consider these content updates, but they are nifty to have, and for me, at least, they don't necessary have to document these kinda changes unless they actually affects game play, although the mob fight or flight behavior, if it indeed is a recent change, does. Mainly, because you have to be more careful, especially diggers, in watching herb dragging aggros to you.

This has been like that "always". I think they have tinkered with AI parameters so that this effect is more evident outside low level areas.

In my opinion, the tribe NPCs run too much right now. It feels very unnatural to me to see a tribe sprinting across the land or to see the guards at a camp always running. It's like they're always in a state of panic. I thought it felt more realistic when the guards would walk around on patrol but when they had to defend, they'd run to the fight.

I agree and its annoying to see fast movers on radar makes me jumpy as though I've not seen agro and the NPCs are running to kill it.

do we have a new whiner again that will grab each thread to complain??

anyway i also noticed the fight and flight thing for real for the first time. also the npc's running...well i dont mind them running but running all the time seems exhausting :D so let them have a rest and let em walk a bit as wel :)

I't nice to see you're enjoying your role a flame bait but remarks like this don't serve any purpose...

Don't remember seeing it mentioned.

They have been around a short while. Perhaps a few patches.

It's good except as someone else mentioned they run everywhere. This same thing used to happen around Focus Beta time 'cause I remember there used to be a karavan welcomer in the lakelands newbie island who ran in circles for years and years and years. Poor "gurl" was in pretty fine shape tho ;)

Yeah herbies are pretty cool now although i reckon they should have some that group agro when attacked (by agros).
