Website : New Section on the Website - The Game Basics by Xavier Antoviaque We have just opened a new section on the website, called the Game Basics; you will find it under the Game Info section. The Game Basics are meant to be an online starting guide for beginners, giving them a practical description of the game's main features. Have a look at it, and tell us what you think of it !
------------------
Looks good! Pictures and everything... The first page (http://ryzom.com/?page=game_basics_getting_started) needs to be translated into English, please. The major link in the side panel needs to expand into a tree so you can tell at a glance where you've been and where you want to jump to next. (btw - enjoying all the information - just the basics that don't overwhelm - which has been done very well)
Spelling correction: » How To Use Pack Animals ans Mounts
Another minor touchup » how To Come Back To Life (capital H)
More pictures, please? I'm biased towards pictures - the more the better.
I don't know if its my browser or not... this page (http://ryzom.com/?page=game_basics_how_find) doesn't load correctly.

Yup, looks good.
Noticed something that needs updating though-

"Pacts:
You can buy pacts from the Kami and the Karavan.
These pacts allow you to come back to life without incurring any experience penalty.
Caution: these pacts can only be used once and each one allows you to return to a specific point only. As a bonus, pacts can also be used to teleport you back to where you bought them."
Would be a good place to discuss DP removal kits though.
Also, am I missing something, or does the entire section lack information on how to edit your actions by adding and removing stanzas? That's one of the most important things to have.

I gave them a full translation into coherent english, and a separate ticket for the spelling errors of their Philosophy page abotu a month ago.
They said thanks but haven't done anything. Honestly...it takes seconds to alter.

Are you new in the Saga of Ryzom? This post will help you get started in Atys. We strongly suggest you read the manual where you will find the answer to a lot of questions.
Good to know:
- The player can use the in-game help. The help window opens automatically when the player logs in game for the first time.
- The player can move his avatar using the arrow keys or the mouse.
- The player can also select the camera mode using the mouse.
- Any entity you can interact with is identified/highlighted by a "cursor" (square brackets?) when your mouse is over it
- To interact with an entity, select it (left button click) the pick an option using the contextual menu (you can open the contextual menu using right click).
How to install the game:
- Insert the Install CD in your CD-ROM player. The installation program will lauch automatically.
- Otherwise, execute the file setup.exe and follow the instructions.
- Note : there are two CDs; the installation program will ask you to insert the second one during the installation
- You can also download the Saga of Ryzom (make sure your hard disk has at least 5Gb free). Once the download is over, run the file, click on install and wait.
How to create an account

- Using this button you can access a form to register. Follow the instructions in order to create your account.

- Next, you must accept the EULA in order to enter the world of Ryzom.
How to create a character
- Select your character civilization/race from The 4 different homin races. The race you select will determine your starting zone, who your friends and enemies are, and will have an impact on (certain) cultural/racial differences.

Wrong, new or outdated ?
Teleportation therefore allows you to visit places where you have been already, with one exception only: the Prime Roots.

Another point is "read the manual" - which is largely out of date. Why not a link to the helper forums instead?micrix wrote:Wrong, new or outdated ?

Re: Game Basics - New!
A manual for the basics is surely one thing I have been looking for since i started my trial 3 days ago, so the timing is very good.
However, the contents of the starter guide needs to be extended and "brought to life" more, an example for a good and helpful explanation page with a good amount of information would be the mounts page, but unfortunately most of the others contain only information that I didn't need (at least personally, I was aware that i had to kill an animal to get experience), or not enough.
From the perspective of a new player I would like more information regarding travelling, the danger assessment for creatures, tasks, items and especially item indicators that show whether or not you can use them and how that is indicated, as well as a more in depth (maybe in the form of a graphic skill tree) guide on how one can progress in the game skill wise.
Not trying to put anyone's effort down of course, but i think that little section needs a lot of work still, or "you can find the information in the basic guide" will be a sentence you won't hear very often.

something that a lot of players enjoy is learning about the mobs and how dangerous they might be. One of the best ways to do this is observe their behaviour.. Also if you click on a mob there is an indication of its general level (the color in target window) and its relative strength in the area (the stars).mtie0999 wrote:From the perspective of a new player I would like more information regarding travelling, the danger assessment for creatures
if you can't use an item it's icon will appear greyed out, also u can right click on it and choose info, this will display the level requirements for its usemtie0999 wrote:...especially item indicators that show whether or not you can use them and how that is indicated

Suggestion, I would like to read these descriptions ingame when I right click mob and select "info".
