So I've been killing Gingos to get my combat skills higher and I noticed that I cannot get any higher than 3000 xp for each kill, no matter how freaking tough those guys are.
Can this be changed? Or at least set to a higher limit?
XP Cap on kills?
Re: XP Cap on kills?
Even if this was changed, which I doubt it would be due to the above mentioned twinking, it couldn't affect you for more than ..... what, a few levels?smirch wrote:Sounds to me like a defense against twinking.
After that your experience would start gradually going down from said mob due to your level increasingly getting closer to theirs.
This being said, I do feel your pain. Can't tell you how many gringos I've killed and gotten 3k xp and thought........MAN, I wonder how much that kill was REALLY worth.

Gingos not gringos, leave us poor gringos alonerobercl wrote:Can't tell you how many gringos I've killed
Re: XP Cap on kills?
Yep there is a 3k cap, makes you think whats the point of killing that mob as its way over the 3k cap.
Semms silly to me.. If you manage to kill a really really hard mob why not get a bonus ?

Re: XP Cap on kills?
I promise that even with the 3k cap on kills, You will lvl plenty fast. If it were not there, you would lvl 50 times a day. Your game would be over in less then 1 month, as you would fly through all the available content. Those gingos are tough because of your lvl. I can speak from experience when i tell you, soon they will be paper dolls waiting for you to cut them to shreads and toss them aside.

Re: XP Cap on kills?
I don't know about you, but I am eagerly waiting for the day when I can slice and dice them up easy.
Of all of the critters I have had the pleasure of meeting in combat so far, I detest Gingos the most.
Why?
1. They aggro.
2. They are aggressive.
3. They run in packs.
4. They chase forever. (although, what doesn't)
5. If you are attacking another critter and they spawn, they head right to you for dinner - you....
As I say, payback will come one day and I will go out of my way to slay these mangy dog things.

Re: XP Cap on kills?
Out of curiosity, as I understand the system, if you got a partner, and killed one of these things for 1.6k experience a piece, wouldn't that mean the mob was really worth 3.2k xp?
Re: XP Cap on kills?
I do believe the exp is divided among the people in the party, I do not know if there are any grouping bonuses given. In EQ the more people you have the higher the exp bonus per kill. This was done to promote grouping and make the experience more attractive.
This game so far has shown very good promise even for very large hunting groups (9 people). Its very realistic to hunt and kill mobs that give full 3k exp and be challenging but not overwhelming. The grouping is very fun, and exciting as well as rewarding both in experience and exploration value.

I actively seek out mobs that are going to hit the cap for one simple reason....kick ass resources, that's my motivation for killing them, the 3k is just frosting.
