Finding low level groups

Post by mcruk »

Hi all

Im a noob to Ryzom and enjoying the game a lot but I really have a problem with the inability to find teams at my level. There just isnt that many noobs running about. Im sure the few new players also have this same problems. The only solution is to power level so getting teams is easier. Trouble is that doing this will result in a loss of interest in SoR.

So I thought I would mention my ingame name here (Zorran) and encourage the new players to do the same so that we can build up a list of people that we could possibly form teams with. Oh and im Matis if that helps.

If this isnt a good idea then oh well I tried.

Edit. I am from the UK so play GMT timezone.

Great idea. It would be good list usual playing hours and relevant levels too.

Some hints finding fellow homins:

Use region channel freely. When looking for team, state your relevant lvls and what you would like to do preferrably.

You can list people on region with /who command

Add those you have hunted with to your friend list (right click and select add to friends list). You can open your friends list by pressing 'f'. List shows white bubble symbol for those players who are online. You can click on bubble symbol to initiate a private conversation.

Many new players have some kind of mental barrier against teaming that needs to be broken. Approach other homins freely and ask for teaming personally, maybe doing little small talk won't hurt there :)

Increase your usefulness in team. If you have basic healing skills (couple of lvls hp,sap and stamina heal/gift), you are a most useful team member. Even if you are not healing in combat, you can use your healing skills to heal your teammate between battles or if there is unespected problems.

Join treks when possible, this will open up new regions for you and you can find lots of new players that would be otherwise out of your reach.

Establishing or joining to a guild with lot of players at similar lvls helps too. Many guilded players tend to team mostly with other guild members.

Mmatto's tips are very good.

If you are still on refugee isle, i would recommend you to leave it and come to the mainland. Refugee isle is good to start playing, but it is not very populated. If you come to the mainland, there are much more players there.

Tips for teaming in general...

- Be will to be the person everyone needs - A healer.

So now everyone wants to team with you!

After building a group of people you have hunted with for a bit. (A circle of friends) You are in a great position to 'ask' for help in your other skills.

- Be adaptable

If a group is looking for a Tank, offer to be a tank etc...

- Be polite and not 'demand'

I have been know to walk past people, who DEMAND a rez, DEMAND a team.

I will not craft for ANYONE whos first contact via tell with me is...

'Make me a ql60 HQL hvy armour'

- Find the 'Meeting places'

Yep this game has established meeting places - Trainers, merchants, the stables.

- Be in the right place

If you want to find a lvl 100-150 team, its unlikely that they will be forming in a lvl 50 area (other than main cities, and usually this will be done fast).

Sneaky method

Find a team thats hunting - and throw the odd heal or Nuke.
(Don't steal the XP, or you will find it has the opposite effect)

This shows them that you are a helpful, team player :D

***Note***

My pet hate:

Is when a person joins you team and after 30 secs in the team suggest that you ...

1. Fight a different mob
2. Change location
3. Complains that 3k XP is much better than the 2.5k you are currently getting
4. Attempts to take charge of the team

Advice is good, but a team that has been hunting for an hour and then is told that what they are doing is in some way wrong, tends to get frustrated :P

Oops, sorry for hijacking team finding thread with teaming tips.

EDIT: Beanna

I play sometimes with my other character Beanna at GMT+2 timezone (GMT+3 because of daylight saving atm). Lvl 45 melee and offensive mage. She has access to all lands and has all healing spells available.
