ive just spent the last 4 days playing around with my config and stuff after upgrading my gfx card to a newer nvidia BFG tech fx 5500 OC
after downloading the latest drivers and logging in to game all seemed ok for about 5 mins then i got really glitchy gfx about 100m infront of me spoke to a guide and he suggested trying to run in D3D mode, so i tryed this and it seemed to work but then the gfx started to flicker alot and monsters 100m away had square shadows. i switched back to auto and the game seemed to run smooth for the rest of the night.
next day logged in on auto still and the glitch's are back 100m away when you turn it looks like when your comp is low on memory and you drag a window round the desktop left lots of images spread across my screen
spoke to someone in klients and they suggested running in opengl which so far im not having any problems with it running in and no flickering or anything when gfx all set to max
so if you have any problems with any of the newer nvidia cards these are some of the things you could also try maybe itll stop any problems your having
using older drivers also seems to work the 66.93 nvidia drivers work great for some people on the newer cards

Generally Nvidia should be using OpenGL and ATI D3D.
I had the same prob when switching to OpenGL with my old ATI card. It ran fine with D3D activated.
I got a GF6600GT since i play the game under linux =).

Yes true, in general use OpenGL for Nvidia and D3D for ATi.
I´m not a linux freak, and i don´t understand your last sentence Does only Nvidia work with Ryzom under linux, or just the 6600GT model? Or is it just preferable because ATi drivers sucks for Ryzom under linux?

Re: newer Nvidia cards,drivers,problems,fixes
ATi have was can best be descriped as bad support for Linux/BSD.
Nvidia on the other hand, usually have the newest drivers out with both 32 and 64 bit support.

Re: newer Nvidia cards,drivers,problems,fixes
im currently using the new 72.12 betas and they seem to be the best round of new drivers for ryzom that ive found. run the game at 1280x1024 w/ 2x fsaa and 8x ansiotropic in quality driver mode and its silky smooth.....
Re: newer Nvidia cards,drivers,problems,fixes
ahh the bug you are talking about looks like this?
http://home.socal.rr.com/cerebrix/screenshot001.jpg
correct?
anyway, i also noticed this bug on most of the newer 7x.xx series of forceware drivers.
anyway, what you are seeing is a conflict between how the newer drivers handle texture clamping and the games near clip tiling engine.
to get around this, go into your forceware control panel (under display properties, then advanced) and turn off conformant texture clamp and you should be good to go. let me know how it works out for you.

Beta drivers usually cause some problems with Ryzom we have found. Sticking with official releases from nVidia and ATI works best.

The beta 77.30 nVidia drivers have been verified to cause the grid effect in SoR. The game client also crashes due to these drivers.

Re: newer Nvidia cards,drivers,problems,fixes
Are there ANY drivers for Nvidia (I have a 6800 GT) that work both with Ryzom AND with BF2? Currently Ryzom is unplayable, unless I switch to old drivers everytime I want to play it rather than BF2.Zerlin wrote:The beta 77.30 nVidia drivers have been verified to cause the grid effect in SoR. Re: newer Nvidia cards, drivers, problems, fixes
i have using 77.72 for a week now (i think) with gforce 3 (yeah, old card). with no problem at all in Ryzom. Make sure that you run in OpenGL more when using nvidia card.alexana wrote:Are there ANY drivers for Nvidia (I have a 6800 GT) that work both with Ryzom AND with BF2? dont have BF2, so can comment on that.
you should define what "Currently Ryzom is unplayable" means for you, then someone maybe can help you find a problem.
