Basically the si-fi part is mostly story telling, game background. The "karavan" are a guardian type race, i believe the explanation for guns and more scfi-y type weapons are that they take resources off the planet and give out weapons in exchange. Thats about it so far
I'm 26 melee fight and I just picked up a long range wep to play about with and gain extra skill points to use for melee fight. As its all under the Fight tree any skill points you get from leveling eigher ranged or melee can be used to buy whatever fight skill you want. I have/had no intention of using ranged weps in the bigger picture.
Quests, I believe are to be implemented in patch 1 or 2, there are missions for cash etc but not quests as such.
Will My Wife Like SoR ?
Re: Will My Wife Like SoR ?
First of all, the Sci-Fi element is small in my opinion, without distracting too much from the main theme. Ryzom has a unique style that needs getting used to, and this is all part of it.Unregistered wrote:Hello from Canada...still waiting for EB to get SoR in, I'm on the east coast and I'm told it will be here in the next day or two...woohoo.
My wife and I played most of the MMORPG's out there is the last 5 years, except UO. Now to be honest we are waiting for WoW, we were in the ten day stress test and I can't say enought about WoW. But that's besides the point.
I just happened to come across SoR but it was to late to get in the beta as it was over by the time I found it. I'm getting it but the wife does not like the "Si-Fi" part of the game.
Can anyone who is playing or is in the game atm explain the "Si-Fi" part of the game, myself after reading all I could find about SoR it doesn't seem to be that big of a deal, in fact what I read I like. You can be a pure caster or a pure fighter right w/o long range weapons correct ?
One thing my wife loves to do is quests as I do also. How are the quests ?
At what level do most make the move to the mainland ?
I have so many questions as I wait for my copy of SoR lol but I will leave it at this.
Thx for any reply.
My girflriend and I have tried WoW too and she plays Ryzom with me and we are both loving it. She gets awfully excited about crafting herself different coloured armours
Re: Will My Wife Like SoR ?
Well I love it, and I'm somebody's wife I am so not into sci-fi, but as the guys said, it really only features in the background story. I'm pretty sure that when she watches you play she'll want to join in
