Realistically...the future of SoR

Post by myotis »

With declining subscription rates, population drops, etc., what is the immediate future of SoR? How much longer do we have? I joined a few days ago, but without folks to play with, is there much point? I don't mean to sound grim, but I want to know what the future holds...realistically. Has there been any OFFICAL word? Especially since the Chapter 11 announcement...

Anyone who tries to answer your question is just reading tea leaves...none of us know exactly what their financial is. Without that info, we are simply guessing. It's obvious they have a great product and many plans to improve it. Whether they can carry off...only time will tell.

I am sure that some of your questions will be answered soon when we'll be posting new information regarding news from the e3 over in L.A.

As Quasar pointed out, we do have big plans for the game (such as the major features coming up with chapter 3, as well as the first add-on).

I think that our presence at the e3 and other major gaming expos, the organization of real-life gatherings, recent & future marketing steps (i.e. the recent Cover-DVD / Ryzom feature in UK's PC Gamer magazine), as well as the addition of Jessica Mulligan to the team, proves that we are still actively expanding and promoting the game - and as a result, our player numbers are in fact recovering nicely meanwhile.

It is completely normal that sometimes older people leave the game (often just temporarily), while new ones join in. You mentioned yourself that you've just joined a few days ago! ;)

We are also confident that some old and currently inactive players will be returning to the game when the outposts and other exciting features of chapter 3 will finally be released. As you know, we're making visible progress here and are currently testing the outposts on the ATS.

Thanks for that input! It's great to know definitively that the numbers are rising! I know I for one was starting to dispair...

As long as the servers are up I will continue to play, right now I think there are actually ALOT more players then when I started a few months ago + Ive seen several players returning to the saga lately.

I dont spend my time worrying over such small issues that I usually see on the forums - Im happy with the world as it is now and I always have lots and lots of people to play with so whats all the worrying about?

Live life today and stop worrying so much about tomorrow, cause you cant change it anyways...

Im sure the Ryzom staff are doing everything they can to boost up the community and posts like "Is Ryzom dying?" or such are just pathetic - cmon ppl, what the big hassle? So they havent met all the goals they set out to - so what?? I still love the game for what it is and I think Ryzom will just get better and better.

Ive brought several friends here that used to play WoW - but they quit "The best mmo around" to play Ryzom instead so there must be something about this game ,-)

Was no need of this, man. He asked a prefectly legitimate question, and he got an answer. He is a noob, indeed, exactly like you was 2 yrs ago :P .

suggests the next time anyone wants to post a 'lets save ryzom' thread they think about the impression this gives new players especially with the populations of starter islands at the moment.
In answer to your question, i think there is loads of point. No one can say what the populations are but (almost) any time i play, there are reasonable to high populations in all the areas i visit. I guess all we can do is wait and see but the in game perspective seems quite different to the forum perspective. Most people only post when they are not happy which imo makes things seem a lot worse than they are
