People cant find it!!
I just had a buddy come over to my house 30 minutes ago and showed the game to him. he was totally sold and ready to get it. He loved the Stanza system and also the way crafting was so cleanly done. So we called the 3 main game stores in my town.... there are 2 EB's and a Gamestop. (Ft. Myers Florida)
Guess what? No copies at any of them. I had bought mine at Gamestop yesterday and they had one other copy. When we called each store they said they didnt have it and we asked how many they got. The EB's both said they only got one copy and the Gamestop said he thought they had gotten 3.
Nevrax.... people are hearing about your game but cant find it!!!
(note im being nice here and love the game so far...obviously sellign a few friends on it...just disappointing it is so hard to find)
sad thing about Ryzom...
Re: sad thing about Ryzom...
Yeah, I work at EB Games in Lynnwood, WA and we got a grand ol' 3 copies in. I got one, my friend got one, and the other has been sitting their since release.
It's pretty unfortunate and I hope it will get more popular.
Although, when they (or if they already did) implement the download system, it will be much better since it will allow an unlimited number of people to get it.
Even though we only got 3 in, I've had countless questions asked about it. Most heard about it from the ads on Fileplanet when the betas were going on. I plan on telling all the customers to get it online since buying it from the store will basically be impossible unless EB and Gamestop figure out the game is worth getting.

By the way, i agree, in some areas it's tough to get. The game is relatively brand new, made by a French company so retailers in North America are being cautious, you just have to find the retail location in your area that stocks up. GameStop is particular about these kind of things.
There is a listing in Naples, FL about 38 miles from you that has over 4 copies (that I gather from the website). Its at the Coastland Center.
The game is good and it is tough to find, but with a little muscle and us showing it around should do wonderful in comparison to everyone else.

Re: sad thing about Ryzom...
In this age of broadband, I can't see why we can't purchase and download online. I did the SWG two week trial, downloaded 2 gigs, and only opened my Collector Edition box to get the CD Key. But I don't know why I couldn't have purchased online, registered online, etc. After all, the O in MMORPG is online. The (atom) distribution system is so inadequate compared to how efficient the online (electron) distribution system could be.

Number of them on Ebay.
Re: sad thing about Ryzom...
Thanks for the heads up on that.....I just text messaged my friend to let him know they had 4 copies there......see if he is sold enough to drive 38 miles to get it, hehe.aedri wrote: There is a listing in Naples, FL about 38 miles from you that has over 4 copies (that I gather from the website). Re: sad thing about Ryzom...
Most likely it has to do with the folks that print the CD's. They can't make a game without a publisher making cd's, and they have to allow the publisher time where they have exclusive distrobution rights. Back when AO's expansion came out there was a similar issue where they couldn't update their online download>trial>buy thing to include it for 3 months I think it was.hastings wrote:In this age of broadband, I can't see why we can't purchase and download online. Re: sad thing about Ryzom...
They have provided the game for download now.
If you go to the main ryzom website and look in the news there is a link there to download the game.
Hope this helps.

I think the issue some are having though is not just anyone can download it...only people in certain countries or something.alystra wrote:They have provided the game for download now.

I bought mine from a Gamestop in Tukwila, and I had to do some digging to find it hidden behind craptastic titles like Pro Bass Fishing Bikini Explosion and Who Wants to Be a Crackwhore '04. You'd think these people would know better.
But it's nice finding a good game that isn't getting zerged by the usual crowd of MMORPG mugwumps.
