Armor with what parameters you would have preferred?
Interestingly, what parameter you consider as the most important in armor.
Asking, because looks like my priorities. do not coincide with priorities of some users who does not penetrate into details "how works Protection Factor"
(PF cannot protect more, than specified in " Max vs " if Mob lvl = Armor Qlt (if mobs lvl higher than armor qlt - 'another story')), and after Patch 1 when Mobs damage it was doubled, " Max vs " became important factor, but it seems, that some players (as understood from received tells) do not pay attention on " Max vs " and just choose armor with greater PF or a suitable bonus (as Parry) and ignore thus Dodge Penalty and other factors of protection.
Also interesting, what of "Protection vs X" (Slash, Smash or Pierce) , you prefer.

Dodge and boosted stats. the HP does also play a part, but lesser.

Re: How you choose armor?
I voted for parry but it is not so simple.
First comes parry for me as I am am doing currently my highest skill that is melee.
I look also max vs. values and I would like to see high and balanced stats there. I have been bit lazy here as I have not bothered to check what damage those mobs inflict that I use to kill. PF is insignificant as I use to kill mobs that are much higher lvl than me.
PF would be important if I buy separate armor for dueling or soloing. Duel armor would require parry, pf and max vs. slash. max vs. pierce or smash is not important as pikemen can use ignore armor and there is like 10 smashing melee warriors in whole Atys.

Re: How you choose armor?
HP only, on light armor. not an option I can vote on.
by protection factor I guess you basically mean light/med./heavy? that's all about the occupation. people have already picked thier roles and the weight-class of the armor just falls into that. am I wrong?
currently my dodge skill is highest, but I imagine when my 1H & CC melee is higher, I'll want parry. I forget what kind of armor parry is on though... only heavy?
I don't really like the action malus on heavy, what with being a dabbler who enjoys casting as well as melee, plus the appearance is not to my taste other than the Matis. (on a female) so I'm wondering about medium...
VS slash/pierce/blunt seems completely pointless to me. unless you KNOW the mobs you will be fighting for the next 20 or whatever levels will only use a certain type of attack because you'll be grinding in a specific spot... and if you go into heavy armor, you don't really want to have a different set for each situation. I already just complained about inventory management in another thread.

Re: How you choose armor?
Parry is important to me on Hvy.
Dodge on lights.
Medium slows down my casting speed a little to much and increases my stat usage when casting and doesn't tend to offer enough protection when tanking.
As I hunt with a healer or large team, I tend to find as long as I can stand up to the critical hits, any armour is good.
-off topic
Personally if you know how to look after your team, especially the healer, you can quite successfully hunt in any armour.

I wont really vote, but I *will* keep a good eye on this poll.
Most people hunt carnivores btw and I think most do either Slashing or Piercing damage. Looking for a recepie that allows dodge -1~0, parry +2/3, PF ~50, as high as possible vs pierce and vs slash, using choice or lower mats. This mix can be supersized to exe and supreme later of course....
So my vote would be, ehm, will make one
For my personal armor I use a dodge 0, parry +2, PF ~51, the rest as high as possible. Using supreme, exe and a few choice mats. But as I say, that is my *own* armor...

Re: How you choose armor?
Looks first, not a choice. Fighting I use Fyros medium. Casting, I have a white Zorai LA suit, and my favorite that's all LA with one piece of MA (84 sap vs 80 sap to cast a spell means close to nothing the way groups cross heal each other in Ryzom)
Re: How you choose armor?
Hehe, First what i used to look for was an armur... and a crafter ....
Used to be hard enough to get that 170-180
Personnally I would vote "Max vs" for any armur i bought at merchants:
for same quality armurs, i always used to compare "Max vs".
Thats before you actually know a crafter
Dodge/Parry not as important for me than Quality of armur and Max vs..
I made 250 melee mainly using dodge even though my parry was higher (blasphemy maybe but thats the way i did it, and I didnt have enough knowldge at time to decide is due awareness of the +/-)..
After when u get to know more ppl, u dont buy an armur for its stats: you buy an armur from the crafter:
-for the look of the armur (which plan crafter has)
-for the fact he is nice.
-for the sales condictions which are reasonnable (or not but which are agreed).
-for the reputation of the crafter
So you dont always buy an armur, you kinda buy a service, with the service included
But that may be the old school lol, now more ppl are on the market, crafters are more than their local plans...
I still have a lot to understand about those 1,-1 and so on stats which appear or dont: especially on weapons: i used to make weapons with maxi different %age and all ended up 0.0.0.0 ....at 50 or 80+% = 0.0.0.0...
and now, for same stats, the more i add mobs mats, the more the stat show, but the %age are exactly same in pre-craft .....(bit off topic sry)
So until i dont understand that anymore, If I contact a crafter will be more for a service (truth, friendship, honesty....) than for actual stats.
Concerning with maxi protection, definitly PIERCING

Re: How you choose armor?
Piercing and slashing deffo out weigh smashin once ur are higher than lvl200
There are Very few High lvl mobs that smash from wat ive noticed , Kitins Pierce and other agros like Jugula and Cuttler Slash.
I prefer Parry on a Hvy Armour , But i tend to just try for a mix that gives me 53% + on prot and a good balanced Versus weighing more to pierce/slash than smash if possible. This is because its very hard if not impossible to get better than +1 on parry from PR mats only, and i feel my prot and versus are more important than +1 on parry.
Supreme > Tama - Dung - Irin - Silverweed , is my fav recipe This will give 53.7% and nice versus stats.

is this heavy, med or light armour we are talking about? Poll and its results are a little misleading
