Connection problems...

Post by noodle84 »

I just got the game not three days ago. After i waited for the looong patch download (I have dial up :/ ) I went to try to create my character. The thing is i get disconnected before i finish. I thought it was my ISP i had Netzero (yeah i know i know i don't need the: ewww Netzero comments :P ) so i swiched to Earthlink. Now i've played Final Fantasy and I had a simler problems and switching ISPs helped. Now mind you i know that some ISPs have the "auto kick off thing" where it kicks you off after a certain amount of time of inactivity but to get kicked off only after a few mins of playing the game (about 1-10mins) is just to much. Again while playing final fantasy for about 3hrs it would kick me off and i'd have to reconnect. Now the problem can't be with both ISPs so i'm guessing its on the Ryzom side. I've noticed a similar post on here with the same problem (sorry don't remember the posters name >_<) and i'm assuming its maybe a recent patch. Any help would be appreciated, I would really like to start playing the game now. ;_;

EDIT:Just saw the sticky post the one made by vguerin about the 10min disconnect thing. I dunno if that applys to me...i don't have a wireless routher. I did however try the soultion though to no avail. I really really need a reply here. I want to start playing the game.

Do you have a firewall? Maybe windows internal? There is a sticky post about that too. You may need to open some ports on it.

the other night i started screwing with the ports and since i'm computer illiterate for the most part it took me awhile to find it. i dunno if that is why it started working but its working now. or maybe its something else. like i said i dunno but its working now. so YAY! lol :)
