Change of attitude, anyone else noticed?

Post by zebidie »

I dont know if its just me and my freinds being unlucky or if theres something to this but over the last few days I've really noticed a change in players attitudes. Several times this week i've been unlucky enough to fall pray to the local wildlife, usually this isnt a problem a simple request in region chat would usually bring help from some passer by. I know I always try to help out folks who have had a bit of bad luck but as of this week requests for help are routinely being ignored. People have walked right past us, told us "tough luck" or even thown a single heal on us (not enough to res us) then walked away.
I've also seen something else new, high level folks dragging large mobs into safe zones with harvesters.
Couple of days ago some players were having trouble with a spawn, all but 1 of the group was dead and the last was about to die. My guild mate saw this, nuked the mob and rezed the team, rather than saying "thank you" they started moaning at him.

Whats going on people? Theres no need for this sort of attitude. We're ment to be playing a game. It doesnt take any effort to help each other out with a res now and then. I dont usually moan on the forum, we have an awesome community here and this stuff is worrying me.

That's odd, I play mostly in Matis areas and have never seen such strange behavior. Could they be roleplayers?

I've still never seen this, and I play all over the world of Atys - what times are you playing?

All sorts of times.

Had 2 seperate incedents with guild mates this afternoon killed in KoD between 2 and 4pm bst. One was a harvesting incedent and he got ignored the other was when someone dragged loads of mobs onto the harvesters.

3 of us got left to rot about 2am hours in KoD last night.

Then a team of guild mates got ignored in Grove of confusion at about 5am with about 15 people within 125m.

The day before that 3 of us got killed and then slightly resed by a player who then then ignored us while he stood there with his mates less than 50m from us, again about 4 or 5 am in KoD.

Previous to this it had never happened, not once. Maybe we're just being unlucky.

There is the "someone else will do it" effect : i could go but I'm concentrated on my current job, and because there is tons of people someone else will do it

There is the "please say it when it's done" effect : you go rez ppl who shout in region, you run like mad, you avoid aggro (or not...) you let your source explode by distraction ... and when you come at the graveyard, all ppl were just rezzed by someone else... "please say it in region when you're okay !" and then, going back, upset, you skip the next 4 "help me" in region.

There is the "..." effect : cut and past precedent, but you actually rez the dead people, and all you get is.. nothing, not even a thanks. your effort completely ignored ... again you skip, with anger, the next "help me".

there is a big part of unluck, yep. Amplified by new ppl available and request per seconds :)

Be aware of those fact. push yourself forward and give up more often !

I've seen this effect as well in the past few days. But let's not be too harsh on the players; they may be AFK, or combating their own mob, or in the middle of harvesting. Or, they were mis-directed....I see calls for rez, with attrocious directions to where they are -

* need rez pls
@ where are ya? Time?
* here
@ here, where?
* 100m from the Perfling tree
@ .... there are trees all over the place
* I see a blue dot on radar... nope left more
@ ? can't be me; haven't even moved yet
* nm... 3, 2, respawning

Or more frequently -
* help! need rez here!
@ where are ya?
@ time?
@ did someone get to ya?
@ hello?

So if you call for a rez, please try to help out your rescuer by trying to give accurate directions, and help with visuals ques once ppl show up on your radar by talking....

Usually I play around 6-10pm CST ( about -6GMT). More often than not, the gingo/ragus/etc victim will usually get mobbed by potential rescuers.

But Tobaran's right. Most of the cries for rez don't usually give critical info on place and time. Perhaps we should put a guide on the etiquette of requesting a rez.

Zebidie, perhaps you just have a string of misfortune following you for a few days. Hopefully better days are around the corner.

All good points, I'm hoping that in most cases there was good reason. But in some of the occasions I pointed out there was no mis information involved I'm afraid. These players knew exactly where we were, one occasion we got 1 heal on each of us to increase the timer then they just waited and watched us die.
Another time we were told "tough luck".

Theres no 2 ways about it, some folks are just being nasty. I've been playing SoR since closed beta and had never ever seen this; thats why I brought it up.

edit: Btw i'd just like to point out that i dont concider being rezed as a a right, just a courtasy that we've all got rather used to. I fully understand that sometimes its just not practical for folk to help out or that they miss the request.
