Well, I'm at it again :o) Operation: More US players!!

Allo Allo Everyone,

I've had this idea for about 2 weeks now..and once again I couldn't sleep.
So, I decided to sit down and get busy with it, instead of it only being an idea sitting there and making no progress.

Ok, first off:

(((ANTI-FLAME))) I am not opening this post for flamers.
My idea here is to *help* players of Ryzom, not to dangle myself and my attempt to assist in front of you like a T-bone.

Ok, so - here we go.

Now, I know that this game is not based in the US, I'm aware of that.
But what are we? That's right, we're US citizens, which means we can only play on the US servers.
Now, I've heard this same situation a *million* times.
"There aren't enough US players"..."There's never enough people on."
"I can never find peole for groups...it wouldn't be like this if we could play on the other servers."

So I decided..."Why stop wishing for being on the other servers...why not help this one out instead?"

I know, to the advertisement team what I've done is nothing, but to me, I'm just worried about getting the word out - People here just aren't aware of the game and that's the main problem.

WE NEED THEM TO KNOW - this is the only way they'll be able to use the trial in the first place.
I found the trial by pure luck. Other than the ratings you find here and there, there are no advertisements for it - We need it!

So, I decided to do what I could on a whim.
I've been searching for the past 2 hours, looking for rating sites/forums and I've been putting up my feedback/ratings/reviews and encouragements.

I think everyone that has a few spare minutes, boredom, anything should try to do this as well - if not post your own stuff, give your feedback to mine.
I've decided to dedicate a little time aside for this.

I'll call it "Player Advertisement".

Every time I walk past an Electronics Boutique (or other gaming store) I stop in... specifically to check to see if they are even carrying SoR on their shelves and I'm sorry to say 9 times out of 10 it's a "no." From the server population I'm sure we can deduce that this game isn't flying off the shelves and I've just happened to walk in every time they've sold out... for the last 5 months. While I completly agree that we need more people on server, I don't see how we (SoR = we) are supposed to compete with WoW, EQ2, etc. if the game isn't even available for sale on the same shelves.
Just a thought...

That's true, it's *not* on the shelves.
I have not seen it once, so, this is why I thought that suggesting the game on these sites would get more attention.
People shopping around in the stores aren't going to see this at all.
However, the players, like myself, that have been playing for so many years, we tend to research first.
We go out and look at the rankings, screenshots, etc. of the game before we do anything else.
In this case, you get the Ryzom free trail...they don't need to buy the box set then.
So, we just need to get the word out there IMO and let them know that while this may not be on the shelves, you get one of the longest trials out there for the best game out there.

I'm hoping my little attempts will at least assist in this.

Now, if anyone has suggestions for additional methods, I'm all open for it.

(I just woke up btw, so if this is a lilttle gumbled, I apologize, lol - I'll clean it up later.)

Well, I just hopped over to MMORPG.com and come to find out that SoR is ranked #15 currently. I was thinking if everyone that was playing currently posted a review, and honest review, that we would probably push up to #10 pretty easily and be on the main page. That would help dramatcally with people even being epxposed to our game.

Being that we are currently ranked at 7.4, and there are 14 games ranked either 7.5 or 7.4 and only 3 above that. I think it would be very easy to see Saga of Ryzom listed in the Top 10.

Please do your part and support your game, It will be better for all of us

I know it would also be helpful if the SoR marketing staff could step it up a little bit with press releases or something to get the word out there a bit more. Maybe some interviews or something to pump everyone up.

I, for one, am not really that excited about them.
I mean it's great, blah blah - but I love the way the game is now.
I'm actually worried that would make it more difficult for those of us that are in PR 24/7.
But, I won't know that until it happens

I also figure why not go ahead and work on the rankings out there?
If it's great now and it improves with the outposts, then rock on - that just means that maybe even more people will actually take the time and effort to rank it and pull more attention to it.

I, like most others, am aware of the lack of players in Windermeer. I thought about it, but I never really thought I could do anything to help. Thanks soo much for the ideas--I just went to MMORPG.com, made an account, and posted something in the forum. I'd really like to help with this in any way I possibly can.
This is mostly becuase when I'm around in Farihaven, buying a new pick or whatever, I usually type in /who and 10 or 11 people pop up on the system info window. 5 of them are guildies. Another 5 are people I see every day, walkin around doin whatever. 1 is someone who is most likely an 11 year old on the trial who doesnt have a credit card and will not continue with the game, even though he likes it a lot.

So, in the meantime, let's do what we can, Homins
