Tryker Relay Foot Race

Post by systemv »

Quick and dirty details:

Sunday, March 20th @ 6pm EST in Avendale (eastern most town in Tryker continent)
1st place prize: 3 million daps
teams of 2 at least(depending on number of participants)
map: http://octa.meawping.com/ryzomscreens/relayracemap.jpg

---------------------------

Twas a frightful scene at the Striped Yubo pub in Fairhaven. Some forest prancing Matis had a bit too much rye and made a proclamation that he, and any of his kin, would beat a Tryker in a swimming contest! You can imagine the frightful stares and shocked silence that would follow such a vow. I was sure a bottle would hit the poor lad's head before he could sit down.

But a Tryker doesn't pass up a sure bet and this was as sure as you could get em! A Matis outswimming a Tryker? Was he daft!? I stepped up then to calm the crowd; twasn't easy I assure you!

"I've fished and hunted across my homeland for many years," says I. "I aint knowing what the Matis are capable of" I continued, "but I think it's about time we found out!"

I received many nods of agreement and wide grins after that one.

"And why stop at the Matis?
"You think any other Homin can beat us in our own lands?"

"So I offer this challenge! A race, on land and sea - let's see who's got the teamwork and the guts to finish first eh?" "1 Million daps! 1 Million daps to the team that finishes first!"

The cheers after were deafening and I could see a gleam in the eye of my Tryker mates which seemed lost these last few years. And I could have sworn that Matis lad got paler than he already was which made my spirit soar :) . Sure the Kitin were out there, and war was always a possibility but all of that didn't seem to matter for a few hours.

So here's what I offered:

A relay race!

Each team will consist of 2 homins(unless a lot of people sign up). The course will have 7 checkpoints including the finish line. Each team will have a primary and a secondary runner. The primary runner will be at the starting line and the secondary will be waiting at checkpoint 3. The primary will be given an item, this item will have a specific q and be crafted by someone especially for this race to ensure it is not duplicated.

At each checkpoint along the way the runner must touch a ref and state "here" in around chat(I suggest you macro this). When the runner gets to checkpoint 3 he will trade the item with his partner who will then continue on with the race. The primary runner will then port to Fairhaven to await his partner's trade. We will fund you for your Fairhaven teleport ticket prior to the race.

At checkpoint 6 in Fairhaven as the primary runner is waiting for his teammate he will be given a second item of a different q. When his partner arrives they each must trade their items to each other then continue the race to the finish line together.

The first team to cross the finish line together wins! It's still being determined if a prize will be offered to 2nd and 3rd place, though it's a very good possibility.

I hope to see at least one representative of their race there - we'll truly see who's fit to hold the title of relay champ!

/OOC

For a map of the checkpoints go here: http://octa.meawping.com/ryzomscreens/relayracemap.jpg

in short they are Avendale, the WoM port north of DD, Darkmoor enterance, Corsair camp, Greenvale Trading Post, Fairhaven, then Dainty Isle Workshop south of Crystabell.

It's not required but if possible please send a quick in-game mail to Dagger so I can get an idea of how many people will be participating. I need at least one more Ref, if anyone is interested please let me know.

Sorry for the horrendous RP story and the grammar involved... I'm not a writer :P

Hope to see everyone out :)

Also if you don't have a teammate just come to the starting line and we'll try and group you with anybody else who doesn't have one as well.

Striped Yubo Pub (did a double-take on that, heh)... and a prancing Matis... intoxicated by rye bread? Hrm...

Anyhow, moving on. We all know the longer arms of the Zorai people make them the most efficient swimmers. No contest. You can deliver the winnings to my apartment in the Win-Cho Estate District, thanks.

You should definately expect to see me there :) Being champion mekatoub racer and all, I would like to maintain my title as speediest Tryker around.

One thing though---1 million dappers? why dont we raise the stakes a bit? How bout every team that enters puts 50k in the pot. Whoever wins gets all this money PLUS the million that is already offered? Oh, and all Matis enter 100k ;)

(If you never heard about the mekatoub race....I won it. ya.)

I won't be requiring an enterance fee(want to make it accessible to everyone) but if anyone wants to donate to the prize by all means! Just give me a shout in-game.

In an effort to promote the big race on Sunday, myself with some of the other refs will be holding small dash type events in each of the continents Saturday afternoon. The prizes won't be huge :P

So look out for us in Region chat near the capitals this weekend!

Tentative schedule(all times in EST[-5 GMT]):

Zora - 2:00pm
Pyr - 3:30pm
Yrkanis - 5:00pm
Fairhaven - 6:30pm

question: Is this a foot race or a mektoub race? Just need to know who to put in training...
