Pirate Victory!

Post by grimjim »

Outfoxed by the vicious Blackwater Pirates and their terrible leader Wormbreath it fell to the command of more militarily successful Fyros to save the day in Tryker.

Led by the high leadership of The Samsara guild our heroic team consisting of...

Threbus
Kyerna
Kostika
Jyudas
Maxfrie
Juffia

Quickly solved the pirates clues... or beat them out of them and finally descended on the pirate lair, swords in hand, driving off wormbreath along with some other homin who showed up and looting their cave, as well as recuing the delightful maiden Fryswynde, who, unfortunately, as it turned out likes girls and was thereby immune to my not inconsiderable charms.

Still, we got the treasure and apportioned the loot between the members of our team.

However, tonight, while drinking at the Yubo's Leg in Pyr it struck me that the pirate treasure stems from raids and other nastiness put upon the poor Tryker people. It would be only right and just to return that money to Tryker's needy and poor refugees.

Therefore, one night this coming week I shall make may way to tryker and hand out the dappers we claimed from them to the first five needy souls that make their way to me and can prove their impoverished state.

Hopefully this will also go some way towards silencing some of our guilds most vocal critics.

Wealth and glory!

(OOC: Apologies if I got any team-mate names wrong, thanks to everyone who ran the event! It were fab, if a little frustrating in places)

Thank you mate, it was fun organising the evnet for you, and even more fun reading your in-game and in-character comments on region! :) Would you be so kind and tell us a little bit more detailed, what did you find frustrating? So we don't make the same failure again :)

That is warmhearted indeed and I think that many Trykers will greatly appriciate this.

May your day be glorious !

When we organised as teams we split up to hit as many pirates for clues as quickly as possible, then to be told we had to visit each personally, which made me scream in frustration. That was then changed to allow teams to do the business.

Also being good at word-games we guessed the location after getting three letters, at which point we were told we still had to get them all. Which was frustrating, we were trying to be quick to protect a ladies honour after all! ;)

I think, mostly, the only improvement would have been to make these things clear at the very beginning.

I also found the final location frustrating to the point of tears to get to, if only because I turned right instead of left at the border post initially.

Those mountains are bloody annoying and Tryker is more long winded to get around than zorai!

Also, the pirates were too wussy to be a credible threat, perhaps keep them and level them occasionally for future events? :)

Hey, you've got us all wrong! We're good guys!

Is this your wallet? No... I don't know how it got into my bag... must have been a yubo.

Is this your wife? No, I don't know how she got into my bed...

That was intentional so that new as old player could take part in the event.

Concidering the seeing the pirates in person it was at first intended so that players could see the surroundings and run around a bit =) (And not run to Darkmoor "by accident" and end the event too early =) ).
But then when it took a bit long we realized that we had to do something about it. I apologize for the unconvience it made.

I greatly appriciate your points of view of this and it will help making next event to be even better =).

You got a good point J. The start was much more messy then I thought it would be, so the instructions weren't very clear. I should have told the rules at the start, not during it.

We also discussed making team at the start of the event, but we thought it would be very messy and take a long time. I never thought of people making teams with anybody who was around. So we had expected all players to solo. :D

The reason we got everybody to Darkmoor was most teams knew where to find the pirates, and it would be a shame if somebody missed the endplay, because they still had to visit pirate X.

Hehe, that was why we chose it. And because Darkmoor has this dark feeling, which make it a better place for a pirate hideout then the rest of Tryker.

Yeah, sorry for that. I tried to put 5000 hours of play in Sxarface last week, but for some reason, it didnt completely fitted in :D
