I am all for Clean up But....
Does this mean there will Be 0/none/zip/zelch/nunca/(all the words David Spade says in Captial one commercals) Content
Bug fixes and CONTENT would BE Nice
on Clean -up
Re: on Clean -up
thing is you can really only have one or the other, while you can have lots of new content, you also bring in lots more bugs to add to the pile and adds some new ones as well
thing is i've wanted a clean up patch for a while, i'm more than willing to forgo new content, as no one uses the content we have now, for a patch or 10 of bug fixes and speed improvements cause honestly the game has gotten a lot more laggy over time and by laggy i mean cpu usage not as in connectivity

Re: on Clean -up
We desperately need some of this. Looks like with the new rites and outposts there will be a lot of content coming in - I'm glad they're finally getting around to fixing what's broken.

Re: on Clean -up
Note the important bit, buzyb. After cleanup, the content will be much easier to implement and hopefully, more bug-free. So new content release would be much smoother.
I think what is going on is, there's a lot of system "quirks" in the code from the evolution of the engine, and the content programmers have to do "hack" and "work around" for them, and in effects caused weird things to happen.
So cleanup is definitely a must, and (hopefully) we'll get faster and better contents afterward.

Re: on Clean -up
there definitely will be new content with the next patch, they have prepared a system to be able to determine what requirements you are missing on the ats, new rites have been brought online there and also some direly needed and gameplay-affecting bugs have already been fixed

Re: on Clean -up
And anytime that you have to side step or program around a bug...you are spending CPU time/speed...therefore...you create lag; not connection issue, I agree it is in the client side...which doesn't mean it is OUR fault, it IS in the coding since I am testing two games and trialing one, and they don't lag, or BOG might be a better word for it, my system.
This is prolly my issue with travel has to do with my system chewing on so much stuff that I don't even see, or don't see as necessary(which is why I ask if ALL the agro and non agro mobs are really necessary, and find all the wandering NPC's in town that say and do nothing but wander around and bog up my system). I think spring cleaning is a GOOD thing. And if it does help with other content releases...even at a later date...I am fine with that too.
Fixes I care about are, in no particular order:
clean up how client "chews" processes and deals with incoming data and sending outgoing data so that bog, lag, latency or other stauls, hang ups (looks like a snag or catching your toe on the rug so to speak. System stauls and then you JUMP ahead...normally into a pile of agro...and die), or other issues of this sort. Having an amazing world you can't explore due to chew time is like living with a cute homosexual of the opposite gender than you, SO much to do and see, but NO way to do it.
Improve the way items are split, stacked etc in inventory. I need to be able to, but haven't figured out, without moving from packer or mount to my bag and back again, how to stack and unstack items that DO stack. I think of this as a rather BASIC part of the game, and it should have been extremely HIGH on the list of priorities...in my much less than humble opinion.
Improve, in ANY way you can, travel. As it is, travel has MUCH more to do with how fast your system is (CPU and vid card) and how fast your vid card is than how skilled you are at exploring. Travel also has more to do with how patient you are than how stealthful or skillful you are. And Solo travel, with the current snags, system chewing/processing etc; is pretty much a study in Masochism. How many times can you get from point a to NEARLY point b in two months and STILL bother trying? I must ask myself...is THIS what the developers of this game had in mind about travel? I have answered...I doubt it everytime.
Personally I could deal without another SINGLE rite...mission or quest going into game. I could however deal WITH storyline being added to mission givers, much like the beginning "get to know the trainers and newbie town" mission. They all had a storyline, skewed in the fame/faction of their race..and even class. I think that HERE is where fame should be figured in that is currently is NOT.
Ok, say I walk up to the Zorai npc and take a mission (I am Fyrosian female, Kami fame for the most part. VERY little fame work done on my own), and Raynes walks up to the SAME NPC. Raynes should get MUCH more info (a book in fact) than I should...He has worked for and PROVEN himself loyal to his people...and other Friends of Kami...so, he deserves more info.
BUT if I go to a Matis NPC, I might get more info than Raynes...he is ENEMY to them, earned that title too, but I haven't. I wouldn't get as much as DT would...but then he is the other end of the spectrum and would likely have earned more info as well (I honestly don't know, just grabbed the ONLY Matis name I remembered. LOL).
I think mounts/packers need SERIOUS work. I still can't back UP on my mount...this is a rather IMPORTANT thing. I still think that the dev(s) in charge of packers/mounts need to find a REAL horse and test the REALITY of pack animals and riding animals. I have seen mounts side step...with reasonable grace and speed (cutting horses), and I have seen horses turn with a speed that would hurt my neck...if I were to try those moves, I have seen horses that were MUCH too big to ride that could pull, push and carry loads that would literally break my back. Take a cue from a movie director and go to the source of your inspiration...reality. (FYI I think Packers should be larger than mounts, like a Cleisdale is bigger than either a quarter or Arabian horse, and dexterity also comes with smaller size).
I think magic needs ALOT of work. Links are a JOKE, if it is linked...the ONLY way it works is if you are grouped. MANY of the standard techniques that MANY other games use are useless in this game. Snare, nuke, nuke, nuke, Run outta range, resnare, repeat does NOT work. Neither does root, dot, rest or root nuke nuke, reroot, repeat. The ONLY technique that DOES work, and only marginally is Nuke, Fear, nuke, nuke, fear, nuke, fear, fear (pray) fear (whew it stuck that time) nuke. I find this CHEESEY at best, and down right NOT worth my time. It is not based on my knoweldge of game, mob, gear, spells or ANYTHING like that...it is based instead on LUCK and stubbornness.
I do NOT like melee, I am much more likely to BLOCK in a real life fist fight than to actually swing. I would try to deflect until the assailant was too tired to continue, then I would leave. I would rather THINK than swing...in game is no different than real life on the street. Now if I had NO choice, like the assailant was armed with a weapon (knife, gun whatever), I would find a way to disarm and disable, then walk away.
I would like a way to improve gear, improve looks, statistics. I would like to see a way to reduce the expenditure of materials...within reason. As a REAL life crafter of MANY different mediums...I know that within reason, once I gain skill in a craft that uses materials (for instance, making a candle or crocheting using thread) I know that I will learn how to waste less and have more of the materials actually go into the finished product. For instance, when I started pouring candles, I had to do it in my kitchen, and had to use a butter knife to scrape the spills up, and there were MANY spills; but now, I can pour ten tall pillar candle molds, exactly as full as the last one and only have ONE teeny tiny spill and I use my nails to pry it up and toss it into the melt pot. Also I know if a crochet pattern calls for five balls, I might get by with only four and a half (but I buy six balls anyway, just in case, due to dye lots).
I TRULY want to see a world that changes. I would like Windy to be different than the rest. It would be FUN to be able to see a "progress report" on certain projects, which might take many guilds to finish, and each server would finish parts of this project at different speeds; some servers wouldn't finish ANY of them. I doubt that any other player feels too different than I do on this one, but if you do...please speak up.
I would like to see a simplification of emotes. As it is now, I don't bother, since the list is like buying paper towels in a fancy market...so much to chose from, and NO way to know where it is or what it does...or whether or not it is animated yet or not. In MANY ways emotes are still WAY in the beta phase. I could deal with about half or less of them, and more than half of what we have actually DOING something other than a spew of chat junk.
I started out in beta thinking this game was different, WAY different than Everquest...but at this moment...I see WAY too much in common for my comfort. I don't mean that as an insult, I mean it as a wake up call and a warning. I feel EQ got it WRONG, I doubt many that are still here would disagree. I would like to help you NOT pull an EQ.
