Thankyou & Goodbye (Extended Leave)

Dear Homins,

Since 2005 began, I have had some personal requirements that frequently got put on hold, as SoR was so enjoyable, I lost track of time, again & again.

Now however, despite being in a great Guild (DCP) & having some great Friends, the unfortunate thread under "Guilds" has caused a re-think on my priorities.

So, now I shall stop playing the game and starting dealing with those "Real Life" requirements I have been ignoring.

No I am not quiting, my subscription will continue, but do not expect to see me back anytime soon - possibly not even this year.


So to all my friends, thanks, good luck, hope to come back and find you are still here!!!


To those bitter people out there, congratulations - had I not had RL requirements to use as an excuse to take this extended break, quiting may have been the option choosen instead.

Its people like you who make this game unbearable, not the DEV's, not the "ingame bugs" or "reduced content" or "missing outposts" etc - they are just annoyances - its the actual nasty homins in the game and on the forums.

While I can understand the anger the "usual" forum discussion makes arise - i dont understand you are forgetting about the rest. Think again. Go strong!

The dcp presence at the forums here doesnt make me fall in love with them and in case you leave i want you to know that your first post in the "to all nice homins" thread made you the most sympathic dcp person out there for me (besides gracia maybe- but i chatted her directly - so different story).

Do you know that Toad was very near to drop his guild (33 members no less) because of forum trouble. He prevailed - and so should you. Go strong!

Unfortunately I truelly do have IRL stuff to do - nothing to hide here, I invested $5000 into my MCSE 2003 & CCNA v2 - CBT (computer based training)

But yes I am very upset, and I did sleep on it over night already (Aussie time difference)

That is why I am going to keep my subscription active.


As for your thoughts on myself being the most sympathetic DCP member *blush* thanks alot again.

I play SoR for fun, its a game, when an OCYX or VARINX kill me, they kill a fantasy character.... I do not log off my PC with gaping wounds etc...
I am not the HIGHEST Char in-game, nor the LOWEST, I will most likely not be the frist for anything either.

I do not gain anything by NOT healing someone in need (as example) nor do i loose anything from actually healing them - so why people make such a big deal of sacrifcying a few moments of their time???

I figure i have seen about 10-15% of Atys, and met even less of homins.

If I ever do return, I think I will need to be guildless - as the trend seems to stick that if ONE member of a guild does wrong, the whole guild is to blame.
Not saying DCP has done anything wrong, but alot out there think so.

I want to be judged for being Gleno, and only for being Gleno.

Don't ever take anything someone writes on a stupid forum personal. People can post crap on a forum because it hides their true identity and they don't have to stand up for it. This is not Ryzom specific. I would just ignore all the crap. Put the culprits on ignore and that's that.

There is a far better community out there then in any other MMO I played so far and the flaming on the forum is at a minimum too. I wonder if it will change once outposts will require some inter guild action.

But I gather its not the only reason you leave. Sometimes we need an excuse to make the decision we should have made long ago without it. So I wish you the best.

I've never met you ingame though we are in the same guild... but from your posts you sound like such a nice sensible person. It's a shame you are leaving but at least you have your priorities straight. RL should not be put on hold due a game... I wish you all the best in sorting out what sounds like a long to do list!

i know RL is imortant indeed but i'm kinda sure u could drop in for example one evening a weak just to say heya

it is indeed sad a guild gets bullied of what 1 person MIGHT have done (this as a general statement) but u idd are gleno as i am Yoshi the person has nothing to do with the guild nor do we get instructions how to conduct from dcp apart from the nice stuff doh

Guess that pr close combat fight you challanged me to is off then... I wasnt going to take it up anyway, but if its beacause of forum talk you're leaving, i got an ivnvitation to do so by your guild leader so my position in this matter is kinda balanced: don't like to see anyone leave, but confrontations sometimes lead to such things.

Bottom line, in mmo's its better to have an enemy in the hand than 2 or 3 trial players
