Defensive Afflictions and Gladiator Events

Post by iphdrunk »

Note: this thread should have been posted on the events forum. I apologyze for the inconvenience.

Hello,

After discussing with the events coordinator, it seems that current gladiator rules were written before resists were properly implemented,(as with stun 1, which could easily land on a lvl 200 fighter, being this the main reason for the ban).

We are not trying to discuss if they are an effective strategy or if PvP could be improved or not (there is another related thread about that, see lariva's post).

As resists seem now working as intended, should deffensive afflictions be allowed in duels (*gladiators event*)? if yes, give your reasons (e.g. adds variety, casting fear is a bet, if resisted, it's wasted time that could be used to nuke, etc). If not, why?. Have you performed some tests?

As slightly offtopic, feel free to post suggestions to improve the gladiator event specifically.

Thanks in advance

everything GOES! that's how it should be, I spent good SP on def afflict skills... so why shouldnt it be allowed! btw, you still gotta be linked anyway, once the link breaks, your in trouble again...
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

I agree with X. You have the skills, you shoud be allowed to use them.
There is always the chance the stun or fear will fail, and even if it doesn't, breaking the link ends the spell.
