They've been saying that. Anything new? anything like events we've had? ownership? or just missions? temporary or permenant? player run or just missions until we're done with em? can anyone use them or are they guild owned? etc etc. stupid nevrax.

When Crest posted a link to that article, she posted it to the second half. There is an entire other half that just makes you want to kick your foot throught he monitor. Here is the link: (make sure and scroll down)
http://www.mmhell.com/articles/020705/t ... 1_cp1.html

A few highlights from that article:
Concerning the encylopedia:
Nandini: We've learned that players have to prove worthy for the encyclopedia - what does being worthy entail? Will you include players that have engaged in ground breaking battles in the Encyclopedia of Atys, or is it barely the access to it that players gain?

Daniel Miller: All players already have access to the encyclopedia. However, the encyclopedia is empty at first: players have to gain the right to learn the articles of history, and to copy them into their encyclopedias. All players can participate in this quest of lore and knowledge, but they have to prove themselves worthy of it in front of the Knowledge Keeper. For this, they have to develop their skills to a certain level, and to root out and complete a set of qualifying tasks. Once the Knowledge Keeper acknowledges the players' worthiness, he will give them a ritual mission and, by completing it, the players will gain access to an article in the encyclopedia, and a new special stanza.

Nandini: What sort of information does the newly introduced Encyclopedia contain?

Daniel Miller: The encyclopedia is composed of a number of albums, each of which contains a number of articles. The articles reveal knowledge, legends, and the history of Atys, secrets of the past previously kept by the Knowledge Keepers, and now accessible to players who take on the challenges of the ritual missions. Players can also obtain new original stanzas by completing the ritual missions, and by collecting all the articles in an album, a player will gain a special title and access to special missions.

Of course Mr. Miller left out the fact that you can actually complete an album and probably won't be able to for a few more patches.

The funniest part of the article is about patch 3:
Nandini: Can you leak any early information on Chapter 3, without spoiling the storyline, of course?

Daniel Miller: We cannot give you much information at the moment on chapter 3, as the developers have their hands full working on it, but we can give you a hint about its major content. Chapter 3 should greatly please players, as it will include something that has been expected for a long time, the outposts...

Yeah Mr. Miller, just like the major content in patch 2 (the encylopedia) has greatly pleased players.

Lets have more content wihtout previous bug fixes, then not homis but bugs will have offsprings that will be increasing at the exponential rate.

Why can people adopt a policy:
1) fix what is broken
2) add new content
3) Goto #1

Just like the major content in patch 2 (the encylopedia) has greatly pleased players.
I hope that last line is Sarcasm. Almost no one in my guild pursues encyclopedia entries anymore. Neither do I.

Lariva, if they can't add 4 rites without a ton of bugs then they are most likely doing patch work code. In otherwords, the Content is something that is added as an afterthought to the engine because they realized how hard it was to run events at a constant rate.

They had a good plan, but it was to difficult. Now they are trying to change the way they operate by inputting new code into the mix and that's pretty damn difficult. It allows for bugs, lag etc. Not play lag...lag like bugs, where the Que defaults to the wrong process before the correct one (encyclopedia entries being greyed out before completed, stuff like that). These bugs are not 'bad code' by $15/hr college coders.

These can be done by experienced people who have to revamp an entire system without reconstructing it. There's a lot of crap to go through, it doesn't self scroll like the Matrix. The more they add the more complicated it's going to get, and the longer each bit of content is going to take to add.
Therefore, you will see a progression of 1/2/3 with 1 and 3 perpetually taking longer for the same amount of 2.

Once they had the Rite template down, the bugs should have dealt with rewards and their balance. Not the rites themselves. Still having bugs in the rites only tells me what I just described. If this is what they're going through, it will take them a long long time to be able to add a significant amount of content. In other words, it is impossible in the near (3-6 month) future.

I really do want to come back for outposts, and once those are in I'd like to drop the other filler games for Ryzom. The problem is that my character will be deleted. If Nevrax gave me a 6 month window instead of 3 month, they'd definately see a return customer. They aren't, so they won't.

NOT, go ahead, interview the PLAYERS Daniel Miller, I dare you, I mean SERIOUSLY come out of your shell, or atleast install Ryzom in your office and see that the "Encyclopedia" is UBER BROKE.

Reality is, it displeased players.
Where you get your stats from on what pleased us and what didn't, is some far fetched system.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.
