Order of the Blue Snake

Post by squidna »

I've been joking about this in region chat for awhile, but it struck me I should finally do something about it.

Homins of Atys! Here you should honor your leaders who have announced and successfully led a trek from one civilization's capital city to another, that understanding between lands may grow. I hereby propose the founding of the Order of the Blue Snake, a loose fraternity of generals who have shown themselves able guides and capable commanders. Anyone who has been on a march between capitals knows it is no easy excursion, so these homins deserve commendation.

I would not presume to make an exhaustive list. My memory is not that good. I'll start with a few, and encourage you to add what you will!

Gfunk has served as a guide on numerous occasions, but in my memory first led a march from the crossroads of Davae to Windermeer and back to Yrkanis.

Zzei famously led a march around the entirety of Atys not long thereafter, pausing midway for the Pyr summit where Mynias was assaulted by Mournblade. (Or was it Sorrowblade? Can't keep it straight, they're dead now anyway. :p ) Despite an atmosphere of distrust, a pact of mutual defense against the kitin was agreed to among representatives of many of the major guilds able to attend from all over Atys thanks to Zzei's planning.

Saiwin most recently led homins from the gates of Yrkanis to the gates of Pyr, and back, under the looming threat of kitin attacks in the homelands of many of the participants.

In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

i think squiddna's intentions with this post isn't honoring these people to collect dappers, but maybe to point out members of the community with a track record of good leadership? not sure, sounds like a post to boost some egos as far as leadership is concerned, hehe :0).

Here's a couple names of "Generals" i'd like to toss in...

Basic - may not be really big on non-combat events, but this guy can get you to where you want to go, with cunning AND force.

Jinari - has organized treks and succeeded admirably. does well maintaining organization amongst the Pegasus gang during mass player events.

Zzei - good at handling crowds during mass player events, excellent guide and scout. very resourceful as well.

And of course everyone that participated in my mass combat tactics training event, LOL. seriously there's more folks they know who they are, but these 3 stand out on the top of my list. :0)

Hoping some people would laugh at the joke >> boosting egos.

More usefully, though, it might help to know who to look up if your'e interested in getting from point A to B-- not on a case-by-case basis, but if Basic gets a lot of tells / emails asking about a possible march to Zora, then he might be inclined to announce one. To that end I was thinking it might be good to have a list of people who had shown they were capable of leading a march, and where they'd been.
