Re: Need Updated Video drivers
to help you there, we'd need to know your operating system and the type of graphics card you have

Re: Need Updated Video drivers
This link takes you to the download page for the Catalyst drivers for ATI cards. The drivers you download there have support for all cards in the RADEON family:
http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winx ... bmit=GO%21
If you have a fast internet connection, get the first package listed (says 1 of 1). You only need the ones below that if you have a slower connection (they're the same thing, just broken up into smaller chunks for easier downloading).
Once you save the download, just double-click it and the install should install the new drivers.
If you get a pop-up that says the driver is not certified, click Continue Anyway.
Your machine will need to be rebooted afterwards but the installer prgoram should prompt you for this.
When the machine comes back up, you should be good to go with the latest drivers installed and active.

Re: Need Updated Video drivers
When updating my drivers (9800 Pro) I had previously been confounded by what was effectively a critical stop due to the driver not being certified. Clicking continue only caused the install progam to quit. The solution for that is to click on the "advanced" button and change the preference (from quit install or whatever the default is) to "warn me" when the driver is not certified. After pausing for the warning, it continued with the installation.drech wrote: If you get a pop-up that says the driver is not certified, click Continue Anyway.
Apparently Microsloth no likee the drivers that make multiple monitors/desktops possible.
Re: Need Updated Video drivers
I have the same issue. My OS is Windows ME and my Video Card is an Nvidia Vanta LT....also, I get the thing saying I need to update my AGP Memory in BIOS but I can't figure out how. I go to Properties and then go to my Video Card options and update driver but it only updates to 2. something and I need 6. something. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Re: Need Updated Video drivers
Here's a small update. When I got home, I tried again to install updated drivers. I got an error message and the Driver Manager shutdown. I tried to restart the computer to see if that helped and now I either get to the Windows Millenium Edition screen and it freezes or I get to where I have to choose what mode to run in, I choose normal mode and I am then taken to a black screen where I am stuck AGAIN.
This is getting really frustrating....I can't get the chat client to work for support, I don't have a confirmation code so that I can email customer support and Direct 2 Drive says it is the company's responsibility.

i'd be calling the support for your vid card manufacturer, tho if you go into safe mode you have to uninstall the vid card and reinstall it when you reboot back into windows

Re: Need Updated Video drivers
@felemar:
I would suggest starting ME in safe mode (either from the forced menu, or by accessing the startup menu - hold down Ctrl I think, when you see 'Starting Windows ME'). Once it's started, see if you can alter the graphics card settings. You should be able to select 'Standard SVGA' or something similar. That *should* enable the machine to start again properly.

Re: Need Updated Video drivers
Do a google search on RivaTuner, go there and they will have all sorts of tweaks and drivers for video cards, as well as a forums area specific to vid card issues. Sounds like you need to go into safe mode and run a driver cleaner program to completely uninstall the previous drivers. ME is always a bit finicky, not that you can afford XP right now, but it is the most difficult OS since Win95.
