Can someone tells me pls what is the difference betwen autolauncher and launcher- dmg, speed and so on?
Thanks a lot in advance.

iirc, one of them has an AoE effect
I'm not too much in ranged weaps so, you'd rather ask someone who knows, try pm'ing millya ingame

Auto Launcher = machine gun ..... Bulk on ammo makes it useless unless it be change recently.

Range weapons work realy well if you work them for you.....przemko wrote:Thanks a lot Neun
get a pistol and a good team of fighers healers
use accuracy to make sure you can hit the mob they can kill!
fire 1 shot, get 3k repeat
boring as hell but a fast way to level it!
get a team of launcher users (3/4) all around the same level.
have an ammo crafter in the team with a packer full of oil and resin
1 laucher each + 1 or 2 clips depending on bulk space.
Find the right level mobs for the group ...
right lvl mob = one with less hps than the 3xlancher shot damage ....
All rangers select same target and fire at the same time.
Mob dies instantly or is kill in the second volley.
easy XP little to no risk

as a guideline laucher ammo at ql50 used to do between 250-400 dmg a shot.
so you are looking for mobs with around 1000 hps at this lvl of range (20-50)
as the lvls get higher ... I have no idea .... I am humble digger in the dirt and oil and resin has a better use in my armours

Re: range wepons
Lemme think what I picked up about range.
- Any lvl of ammo can be used as long as it is the right type. higher the lvl, the higher the damage. Also you need to get over a high lvl mob damage reduction. If you can do 100 damage, but the mobs armor can eat 150 you hit but do no damage (like I noticed
)
- Crafting ammo amazingly increases the bulk. You can have 250 bulk in raw mats, it will be 400 in ammo. Silly, but true.
- it eats stamina at higher lvls, specially with fastshooting, get hp stanza's or better ammo
- range increases with a higher lvl gun, accuracy too
Things to do before joining your heavy friends in a game when starting on lvl 20 range:
- get the best gun you can handle with your balance
- Find a crafter that can craft lvl100 ammo (or go there yourself)
- Dig a whole bunch of resin/oil/bark (2/1/1), bring it to the crafter.
- have a mektoub near, your bulk will explode.
- Get hp stanza's (or wear you light armor)
- accuracy, fast shooting
It really rules! I am liking ranged in a group better then melee now

Re: range wepons
Several corrections.
Ranged has two issues with ammo ql. First is the ql vs skill issue, which is common with melee. Max damage QL50 ammo (or QL50 melee weapon, doesn't matter) used by someone who is only level 25 in the skill produces max damage - at ql25 levels. This is why there are often parenthesis around the damage figure on weapons and ammo, showing actual damage (potential damage). You can use q100 ammo and still get q20 results if you're just starting out.
Second is unique to ranged. If your weapon's ql is lower than your ammo's ql then the max damage on the ammo drops to that of the weapon's ql. In other words, if you have q100 ammo and are using a q50 weapon, the max damage of the ammo (regardless of your skill) will be q50 max damage. This doesn't show up on the stat screens unfortunately, but believe me, I've tested it.
Accuracy doesn't change one whiff at higher levels. Pun intended.
To the OP's question, launchers tend to be a bit better than autolaunchers at what they do in DPS. The issue though is that if you're trying to level ranged, you're just as well off using a rifle as those - costs a heck of a lot less in terms of mats and you can bring enough with you so that you actually hunt for at least a few minutes rather than dart back into town to make another set of lead-weight ammo. Also, the AOE effect of both weapons generally tends to mean you have to be a bit careful when targeting - otherwise you'll have a full herd of something come crashing down on you, and with the meek damage potential of these weapons that's instadeath.
It is interesting that people have found workarounds for the most broken tree in the game - hadn't thought of some of the group applications. As a solo skill it is badly, badly, badly broken. Some year I'll post the DPS summary (once I have time to play with autolaunchers and the bow weapons a lot more than I have) to prove it. Good luck.
Not really, unfortunately. Save your money (although I should start selling q100 ammo on the vendor for those who don't read this.)hans1976 wrote:- Any lvl of ammo can be used as long as it is the right type. higher the lvl, the higher the damage...

The real issue is not bulk but weight. You can carry around enough raw mats to make several thousand rounds of ammo without a problem. Craft more than about 500 rounds however and you will hit the magic 375 lb limit and start getting skill penalties (shows up in the 'p' display as 'speed').hans1976 wrote:Crafting ammo amazingly increases the bulk. When you get a 'hit but no damage' message generally the message before this is 'mob x dodges your attack.' (versus an outright miss). In general, though, fighting anything that wears armor while using ranged is a waste of ammo. Piercing ammo doesn't work and so your damage is reduced regardless of what you do.hans1976 wrote:you hit but do no damage
No and no. Range is entirely dependent on 1. type of weapon (pistols max range is 40, for instance) 2. mats used to construct weapon. I could craft a q20 rifle that had 50 range. Try ragus stuff out at lower levels for higher range.hans1976 wrote:range increases with a higher lvl gun, accuracy too

"I could craft a q20 rifle that had 50 range." Are you sure about that? pretty sure last time I crafted a rifle the maximum range was 40, though I have yet to play since the last patch, so maybe things have changed, I certainly hope so. Launchers max range was 60.
Also it was comented that range was worse solo, I have to disagree with that. I made it to 125 range fighting almost exlusively solo, simply by fighting creatures that didn't run faster than me. While I could see a range fighter having an easier time by just fighting in a good group, the range fighter himself will not be contributing much at all. Thus, range fighting would only be better grouped for the range fighter, because non range fighters are doing all the work. Solo I do allot better with my rifle than I do with my two handed sword.
I have never touched an Auto Launcher, but I have used Launchers quite abit, they do good damage and have excellent range with a very well made weapon. However, the ammo weight makes them close to useless, nevermind each ammo clip, each individual shot takes up as much room in my pack as my twohanded sword and the launcher itself weighs twice that! I can craft level apropriate launcher ammo, but to do so either means striping off my armor every few shots to craft, or wear light armor, which begs the question of why not just be a caster if I'm just going to be wearing light? Oh a full clip of 6 launcher shots takes 24 mats to make.
As to bow weapons, the Bow rifle has the same range, damage, and speed as the regular rifle, it looks different and takes more mats to craft. Also ammo labeled a bowrifle ammo takes more mats to craft for half the shots of regular rifle ammo, no other difference. Fortunately, the regular rifle ammo can be used with the the bow rifle should you prefer its look.
Like Usinuk I have to say Range fighting is really messed up, can't really recomend it to anyone.
Just a reminder haven't played post chapter 2.3 patch, so maybe some things have changed. I also play on the NA server, not the UK one, not that I'm aware of any diference between the two in terms of game mechanics.

Re: range wepons
Hmm. I had some notes from a month or two ago when I was actively testing max range ranged weapons using a combo of supreme and max range mob drops that said pistol was 40 max and rifle 50 max. Could be wrong, though, since I have been working pistol and not rifle over the last few weeks and haven't crafted a rifle in longer than that. Incidentally, what do most people use for speed?
Also, my point about group was less about solo - which I have done for all but a level or so as well - than simply I hadn't thought of some of the more creative approaches that range offers in a group. I do find some of the strategy comparisons interesting...the snipe and follow approach is one I've thought about but never really gotten to work, where another user, for instance, seems to go for the light armor/max stam drain approach. I just tend to find something that gives the max exp/shot even if there's significant downtime later on recovering stam and hp.
I think we'd just agree to leave ranged alone for a while until you're really ready to play around with a tree that doesn't work.
