Kara's take "raid" group together and head out to raid some kami spires... fun ;-)
I hope it's fun that isn't at the expense of the gaming experience of others. Maybe by then everyone will be neutral or Kara and there will be no Kami Spires to raid? Then everyone who wants to can tag up, no risk, free buffs from Spires so they can go hunt PvE...

blaah wrote:been there done that. lost PR tp's in progress.
dont worry, you'll get used to it ;-)

that's just initial shock which will go away (hopefully).
Hmm, been meaning to ask, is it an "exploit" to join a faction for a week, grind fame and buy a coupla millions worth of TPs before going neutral again?
blaah wrote:cant wait spires actually ;-) too bad nevrax dont release it any time soon ;-(
Personally I am much more looking forward to the Ring :) That'll be fun everyone can enjoy IMHO. You could create PvP OR PvE content :)

Which IMHO would be rather a problem especially given how bad things got with OPs...
There is the other fact that the strength of the spires is spread across their sum. So if a side holds more, they are easier to win back.

Only "connected" spires as I understood it. So you could have a buncha spires in say, Desert without nerfing your Jungle spire's HP.

Eh I may not even make it to spires ...But i really doubt ill play much longer after its release because I don't really like the idea at all.But hey im not nav and I can't make the choices.

P.S.I have not seen this game on shelves where I live at all (U.S. Maryland) im sure that doen't help the player base at all.

How can they put it up for sale in shops when it can be freely downloaded from the Net ?
People who pay for it over the counter would get very bitter about being 'ripped off'..

distributing physical copies of the game is a cost, which Nevrax no longer has to deal with. Unfortunately missing out on 'shelf front advertising' is a different cost..
We all would like to see Ryzom get the recognition and success it deserves, but the option available to us, as players, is word of mouth.

sorry for offtopic :(

Continuing the off-topic (sorry all), I purchased my copy off the shelf (or rather, my son purchased it for me), it came with an additional month of "free play" once I signed up for a sub. I got a CD (pretty current, only took me a couple hours to patch) and didn't have to wait/fight with the download process. Paid something like $20 US IIRC. This was just about a week before EP2 landed on us. I thought the shelf price was well worth the time I gained not having to download the initial game, and I liked the additional time added on to my sub as well.

BTW, I've seen it on the shelf two or three times lately. Its now in the "deep discounts" section ($9.95US).

O.K., lets go back on topic ... :D

Well, it may seem like that if you have a fast connection, with no bandwidth limits. I have known people in Europe who have slow connections (ISDN is still common in much of the world, and sold as 'broadband', though it certainly is not), or limits (very common in Australia) on what they can download. Some with children who obtain legally or not a lot of music or maybe a lot of game mods cannot download Ryzom or patch it in a month, so buying for a reasonable price may be an alternative that is desirable.

We in North America forget that broadband is cheap and highly available here (mostly).

It's too late for that advertising in some ways, but a production run of 'bargain bin' copies may be worthwhile... I only heard about this game at all because I evaluated the NEL engine for an industry startup that flopped, the advertising was completely non-existant, which is a shame.

Maybe a bunch of lower cost boxes with a free month may generate a bit of cash influx and notoriety which is sorely needed?... or maybe some advertising of the ring may do some good not sure ;) .

First of all I'd like to say thanks to Souls for stepping in and calming us down. :D

Secondly, I'd like to thank the community for restoring my faith in you a bit with this thread. :)

Finally, I'd like to put my 2 dappers in. I haven't read EVERY post on this thread so apologies if I repeat anything someone else has said. :D

I know people have suggested we need more PvE content, even more PvE OP content and I agree with that. There seem to be various 'flavours' of OP if you look at their names; Stronghold, Border post, Workshop, diplomatic post. Why not make their name reflect their nature? Strongholds and border posts are PvP, diplomatic posts are PvE for example.

Give us a means to transfer ownership without a fight, i.e. through the diplomatic means originally suggested by Nevrax. If the owner WANTS to give their OP to another guild, it makes NO SENSE for there to be a fight!

Make some OPs purely PvP which HAVE to be fought for. Make some diplomatic that have to attained by doing missions or something (e.g. delivering messages). Make some (e.g. the Workshops) attainable by digging/crafting like we had to do to build the temples. Give us different means to get and keep an OP.

I have no problem with having OPs that can be fought for and conquered (yes I know I am saying keep PvP, shocking isn't it?!), but give us some that CAN'T be gained that way as well.

Bottom line, give us more OPs but make them different, make them something for everyone. :D

sorry to beat the dead horse once again, but i just had this crazy idea ;)
it can be combined with most/any of the ideas allready posted in this thread

to remove the FvF that causes some problems with OP´s GvG(or at least reduce it)
without totally removing the funfactor of having friends help your Guild
and even giving smaller Guilds a chance to get /defend an OP,
make the OP´s GvG+Friends, something like this:

for Defenders:
if from Guild_A x have Defender Flag, x Friends can join/flag as defender too

for Attackers:
if y is the numbers of attacking Guild_B flaged as Attackers, then (x*2)-y is the Number of Friends that can join on the Attackers side.

eg.:

  • if 9 Guildies from Guild_A show up to defend, then 9 Friends can join in
  • and 10 Guildies join from Guild_B as Attackers, then (9*2)-10=8 Friends can help them.
on how the Friends are chosen, well ether first come first served or by GL/HO/O choice(i know that Defenders GL can ban ppl from defending, don´t know how it is on attackers side) could be an option

and there should be a minimum number of x, something in the range of 9-18(1-2 full teams)
