I went to 100% Linux as of two days ago. Windows has a tendancy of grating on my nerves, although WinXP is one of the better versions in a while (since 3.11 IMO).
However, I don't have the urge to fork out yet more $$ for a copy of Cadega.
I have two months left on my SoR account, I can't see that I will ever play the game again.
The Saga of Ryzom has impressive future proofing, but has succumbed to the age old problem of "man, that's so cooool" by the devs, forgetting about true gameplay content (does anyone remember spending hours upon hours playing 2D graphics games for the pure pleasure? Content content content).
The thing about this game that made me keep playing it was the community. Everyone in the game, except for the rare individual, has a great attitude.
I am about to embark on a search for another MMORPG to play. My one specification is full Linux support.
Nevrax is OSS. I'm not sure why an experimental ported client wouldn't be possible. If they use OSS to code, then porting should be relatively simple. I am guessing it is a funding issue.
However, if you cater to your community, funding will come in the form of new subscriptions. A one off post to slashdot.org and other such online Linux focussed communities would immediately increase Ryzom subscriptions.
I believe that the online gaming experience has the potential to be a highly successful use of OSS. A pay-for-use service, with a free client, is an ideal financial model. With a slew of highly intelligent people begging to help someone do something significant, the first MMORPG (or MMOG of any genre) to embrace the Linux community with a hint of "the good stuff" (something Ryzom has) will become a benchmark for every other MMORPG.
Anyhow guys, it's been great knowing you all. I'm going to stick to using Oscarian as my general nick. Look for me if you ever try another MMORPG with Linux support.
Cheers-
Ian S.

[Edit]
I bought Cadega a couple of days ago, after landing a new job. I'm downloading it now! See you all in there soon.
