The best way to go about this is less argueing.
Just post ideas/suggestion and constructive criticisms.
This thread is slowly heading down the "kami V kara" path yet again and thats never really a good thing.
Seems the only way to get anywhere is to just do it..
so im going to start *something* soon anyways (once there is a guild name - see other thread ). so if you want to help in anyway shape or form
whether it be
man power for 'dishing out'
being able to donate
or any other usefull thing you may be able to come up with
send an IG mail to Laili
posting ideas/question should for the most part stay in this thread, the more input from everyone the better.

Re: So that something remains...(community distribution project)
I think the best thing at this time is to drop the Community project for now. I think the community needs a little cool down time, there seems to be too much anger and distrust at this time.
I suggest if you have extra Cats just hand them to someone that needs then.
We can always start this back up when things settle down a little.

Gives a thumbs up for a sharing of cats.
Maybe im not seeing something, but an alt belonging to this new guild will need to be given cats before she/he can deposit them in this new gh. So maybe some form of collection method could be set up.
Also, perhaps have active involved alts, in this new guild, for a set period of time - say 6 months. This would give a chance for many homins who want to contribue not only cats but time and care to a community project. I am opptomistic about the number of people who would come forward - so many homins enjoy helping each other. Also it give homins without access to cats - an opportunity to contribute to the project.
I think the distribution, may work better by portioning cats to named guilds and not to individual homins. Perhaps the number of stacks be related to a banded size of a guild i.e. say 1 stack for a single homin guild, 2 stacks to a guild with 2-5 members, 3 stacks to a guild with 6-10 members etc. ( the ratio is only an example.)
Thie issue regarding non combantant homins/guilds and those involved in pvp. I am a little confused here. I was under the impression it was customary when combatant homins/ and guilds supported one or the other side in an op battle they received cats etc. I would expect that this would continue despite a community project. Either homins like to pvp or they dont. I rather suspect receiving cats by what ever method would make no difference to the numbers involved in op battles. Most homins I know are motiavated by fun.
And Brave - I wish you well and glad to know you feel you have achieved what you set out to do. But I do wish it hadnt involved all this dramma and bad feeling.

Re: So that something remains...(community distribution project)
Distribution of Gifts is always nice...Of course there are always folk who will not appreciate what they recieve, there will always be those who have conditions attached to their donations.
This thread is about gathering and distributing donations.
To the organisers I say there is no possible control over the response when you distribute....just accept there will be a mixed response.
To those who donate......I advise you only accept donations with no conditions attached.
This will allow organisers to remain independent of the politics of Ryzom.

would make things alot simpler...
I have been suggesting that there be two categories for distribution. That a separation be made between those guilds who participate in battles and those that do not.
So lets say in the project, we have 6 guilds that do not participate in OP battles and 20 that do. Lets say 200 stacks of crystals are donated to the overall project and 100 are donated with the caveat that they be given to the non combat guilds.
At this point the plan administrator can decide what to do with the extra cats. For this batch of donations I would consider dividing the 100 cats amongst the 6 guilds and the 200 cats amongst the 20 guilds.
Re: So that something remains...(community distribution project)
OK, I'm hearing many people talk about how horrible and divided the community has become, and how nobody helps each other any more.
TBH, I just don't see it. Granted, I wasn't around in the "Golden Age", but this place (in game) seems remarkably friendly to me.
Examples:
In the last week I attended an OP battle. (Much fun was had by all, on both sides) During the course of said battle I was "killed" more than once by nukes thrown by a certain individual. (As it should be, it's a battle, and I'm a squishy healer!)
Move ahead a couple of days. I was out solo grinding a melee skill again, and this same individual along with a guildie was in the same area. We all greeted each other most pleasantly, and when my lonely self got a little negative on the old HP, this individual popped right over and rezzed me, before I could even ask. How helpful is that?
Same day... I was long-distance chatting with yet another person from the "other side" (NOT "enemy") who explained that cats and some other things were in short supply, and I happily TPed to the far side of Atys to hand over a couple of stacks and a million dappers. Not trade them, just give them. And why not? If the "other side" disappears, who the heck are we going to have battles with? What fun is that? And frankly, I'm drifting away from using cats anyway. I don't always bother to pick up my ration, and they still seem to accumulate. So I give 'em away.
As for donating to the community, I'm still a mite sketchy on how this is going to work, but I'm not at all opposed to the general idea. Once this gets rolling, I'll certainly give due consideration to donating from my personal supply of whatever is needed or wanted. Not speaking for my guild here, just for me.
Meanwhile, I'll still give the LA off my back to whomever is in need.
Back to the start of this post - I think that perhaps the "animosity" in game is limited largely to a handful of high level old-timers who do nothing but fight OP battles anyway. They just make more noise than the rest of us who are happy and having a good time.
Maybe it's time for them to retire their toon and start over.

Hence why i hope that despite a few negative points and oppinions to this idea, something can still come about that will hopefully work and make a lot of players happy(er)iceaxe68 wrote:...I think that perhaps the "animosity" in game is limited largely to a handful of ... Re: So that something remains...(community distribution project)
an interesting idea, something that wouldnt be too difficult to implement from a technical stand point. I can understand where you are coming from.danolt wrote:I have been suggesting that there be two categories for distribution. however takeing every guild/individual that wishes to benefit from this and checking whether they are combat or non-combat is extreamly problematic in my eyes, basicly a can of pollitical worms..
simply, this would place conditions and limitations on players hopeing to benefit from something like this. which is pretty much opposite to the entire concept of the project to begin with.
The main point isnt really to have any effect in game, but rather to make the game more fair for the person sitting in their chair playing rather than the characters that exist in the game world.
This is simply due to the nature of the xp crystals. they are an RL reward afterall.

*I honestly havn't read your whole post yet* (edit now I have, And P.S. I don't use cats, I'v only used a few ever and some of them I got from EP2 before OPs came out)
To clarify what I'v said - I am not saying the WHOLE community has gone bad... But compared to the community at the time of me starting... I'v been insulted more in Ryzom in a 1 week period then I have in WoW in a 1 week period(and I even caused an entire team wipe, I expected to get flamed to death just from what I'v heard, But it must not be bad on my server)... But worst part of that is, alot of the insults came from people I once called friend.
Also, When it comes down to ppl going "Waaahh waaaahh, There is 2(or even 3) out 28 OPs that we "can't" attack... And don't tell me this is a "forums attitued" because I'v heard it plenty of times ingame aswell... Don't get me wrong either, I'm not smearing just Kara... I'v found quite a few arrogant and selfish(Not taking about giving out some gear either) Kami as of late... and many of the insults have been from the Kami side, Usually based on unfounded or even IMO stupid reasons. I'v yet to insult any of them back, as they aren't worth my time... (Guess thats an insult so there goes that.)
Now you(everyone not aimed only at you) can keep going on saying the community is just fine, or its not changing, But I personally am getting tired of blind people in game, and IRL, Ignoring obvious truths.
Now on a much less sour note... I'm glad to see some of you trying to Rez this program, And I hope it works out for you, I really do. Its a sign of the community I loved...
There are still many of the people from the 'great community' here. Its time you guys take back over. Those of you that do remain, You're the main reason I stayed here so long and had such a hard time leaving.
Edit--
I didn't just "fight OP battles" either... I spent far more time lvln and chatting, I skipped many OPs nearing the end.iceaxe68 wrote:Back to the start of this post - I think that perhaps the "animosity" in game is limited largely to a handful of high level old-timers who do nothing but fight OP battles anyway. And as for the last line, That is a bit selfish, Maybe its time for some new content? not tell them to start over.
