Something needs to be done here - we have guild mates stuck in Tryker and we're not in anyway poweful/strong enough to go help them come home on our own. If this is what happens at events in other territories then only the most 'powerful' or 'hardcore' players are going to bother going. Which is fine for them - but surely not for the game.

hugorune wrote:Was there not a Karavan teleporting people back during the event at the weekend? I'm Fyros and took the free trip to Zorai for the event, but did not have a return ticket to Pyr. However, in Zora there was a Kami to teleport us back to Pyr. At the end of the event there was a system message saying that the free teleport would be available for another 15 minutes, allowing people to get back.

While I sympathise with people that are stuck (some of my guildmates are), there was a method of returning available and warning was given before they removed it. You can't lay the blame at the door of the devs simply because people didn't take the opportunity to return.

Hugorune sums up my sentiments. The return teleports were available for the duration of the event and also afterwards. If people cant be bothered to either listen to the guides/gms or have a bit of foresight then thats their own fault.

A good few of us are in a similar situation on the NA server, myself included. I contacted the GMs in game and by email and they were unwilling or unable to help. Getting back to my home civilization alone is just shy of imposible, it seems even for most strong guilds in the game travelling by foot between civilizations is a daunting task.

I just want to respond to this statement by Ozric. Now given that I'm on the NA server some things might have been different, but I'm assuming that the events were very similar. My Fyros character didn't take part in the event, the first time I get wind of it is while out foraging, but I still got caught up in this mess. After a while I head back to Pyr, first thing I notice is that there is a new Kami in the market, and like any curious player I go to interact with it. Well, apprently the Kami are asking Fyros to assist the Zoria and they now can send us directly there to that civilization. At this point there is no message about needing to have your own means to get back from the NPC or any messages from GMs, event people or nearby players. I assumed that there would be kami on the other side to send me back. So one click later the Kami sends me to Zoria, I take a quick look around the city and then imediately set about looking for the kami to send me back, there was none!

Well why didn't I have a teleport ticket to Pyr? Up until this point I had never traveled between civilizations, my character hadn't even reached level 100 in any of his skills. So up until finding this new Kami, such travel was simply beyond my current means. That said, I had heard of teleport tickets and roughly understood how they worked from listening to other players, and even tried to buy one in the past. Other players would say the Kami sell them, so logically I go interact with the kami, but the kami had no option to sell tickets in their dialogue. It was only later stuck in Zorai that I figured out I had to sellect the base of the kami symbol to buy it.

So, that's my story, so what's my point and gripe with those sharing Ozric's attitude? I imagine that many of those stuck have similar stories to me, they didn't ignore anyone, and they just did what everyone has to do to learn how to play this particular MMORPG, they tried something out for themselves. For better or worse almost everthing regarding game play in SoR is either learned by trial and error, or by other players who have learned from trial and error. Who can honestly blame us for thinking that if we could so easily go to this distant land, that a similar means would be provided for us to return? Following that what game developers would deliberately place in a game like this the means for uninformed players to isolate themselves from their guildmates/friends and appropriate game play for their character?

This is the kind of customer support id expect from EQ2 or WoW (although i'm pretty sure they would have made sure there was always a way back in the first place)
So the guides messaged that the teleporters will be going down, does this make it OK to just drop all the ones who never knew about it like stones?
No.
1. There are so little players the least we need is more frustrated players leaving and a simple GM command can teleport them to where they belong.
2. There should always be a ticket to their home town, one that never dissapears once you reach the mainland. Whether it costs 10K or not i leave up to the devs to decide.

How can a player ever lose access to the town he came into when he reached the mainland from noob island??
Why should players that forgot to buy a ticket of 10K either use suicide-respawning to get to a place they have traveled to or fight their way to get back?
Not to mention they cannot even access special race-related trainers (for example for crafting)....

They could probably introduce an item called something like 'mark of nascence' that would be able to teleport you back to your home city as many times as you wish. This would suit newbies and role players alike :)

That's a great post r7chard, and I think you hit the nail on the head, as it were.

I agree, if the Kami had been given more information for their dialogue, including hints and advice on how and where to get home, less people would be in this predicament.

A lot of points have been raised here, and many of them valid - at the end of the day, if the players had been given more information before teleporting between continents, this whole thread may never have existed :-) However, once again there's a bright side to what is currently a problem - the offer of assistance from other players, and the organisation of a plan from Neun :-)

Great posting by everyone involved in this thread :-D A fine example of what this community can be...

A way to solve it would be to throw in a similar event in matis / fyros and allow people to portal tryker -> matis zora -> fyros. That way there is a way for the players to get back, and we get a nice event as a bonus. ;)

Sorry but you are wrong. There was a Kami in Zora (at the spot where you arrived after the teleport from Pyr) to send people back. I went there without a Pyr ticket and got back using the method provided by the devs. It was not a one way trip, you just missed the boat back.

Having read alot of the posts here I see the situation from this perspective:

Say you decide to go on holiday to spain with some friends. The first thing you do is locate a safe place or town to visit and you make travel arragements to get to and from the destination.

This is just common sense. You don't rush off to spain on holilday without thinking about how you might get there, how you might get back and if where you are going is safe.

Personally I like to know alot about where I am going and my options for getting there and back, as well what to expect at all stages of that journey.

So it seems the people stuck in foreign lands didn't pay sufficient attention to how they may get back from where they decided to go.

Having said that - The excitement and urgency of going to another land to fight is pretty overwhelming and so I can't blame any player who feels like this and if a way back was available they should have made some note about when and where.

I think every player should be able to suicide and be able to get to their home respawn point at least.

DP is part of life in Ryzom and being maxed at a low level isn't hard to recover, esp in teams.

Mostly this should be treated as a learning experience and every attempt should be made by the rest of the players to rescue these stranded players as soon as possible.

If the GM / Guides are not able to transport players back unless they are stuck in the landscape........ ahem.... ;)

You know this wouldnt have been a problem if people hadnt been given a free ride to a place they hadnt earnt just so the events had more people to make them worth the effort . People who travel to these lands gain the spawns along the way so its an easy DP return . Ifact people who do these trips quickly learn to buy tickets :) .

This is all about the unfortuntes who got left behind and are realy being ignored by the sounds of it from the people who run the game . If people played the game the same way help from other players would be few and far between . Luckily the community seems to care more ythen the admins :) .
