Katriell's list is key!

If they follow those guidelines, I think everyone would love to see more missions. :)

omgosh - the too-pale crafter extraordinare Sehraci Antodera actually made a comment!

Kat got it right though :) missions should make sense - if _EVERYONE_ saved the yubo princess from the evil gingo overking - it gets pretty lame.... but if someone learned the ancient secret of crafting longer-lasting items - and told all his friends about all the trouble he had to go through and boast that HIS items lasted 20% longer than anyone else's and that YOU TOO can learn the ancient secrets! - then it makes a bit more sense :p (and sounds a little like a commercial...)

Ryzom has lots of good stuff, and some not so good. The atmosphere is definately there, the gameworld appear more alive than other MMOs. The designer has made some choices that breeds a friendly community.

I wouldn't mind some changes to the game, if they keep the good stuff.

Yeah, Missions and "Rites" should revolve about things logically repeatable, with rewards at the end that aren´t "The Killallsword of Megadoom", simply a bit more Fame, or some rare (then) craftplan, or other "usable thing" would be realy cool.

Only problem I see with this is that sooner or later said Item/Plan wouldn´t be so rare anymore, because everyone would sooner or later do the Mission. XD Like the Zoraï-Aura one. (Enough People have temporarily switched fame just for it)

Killing Bandits, or Marauders is a sure way to gain fame and cool Stuff as we all know, but IMHO it would be much, much more fun, if these guys would change their behavior in some way or the other from time to time.
Appart from routinely killing them for their Stuff, whats left?
(And why the Hell Atys (NPC)youth keeps being drifted into these Gangs is beyond me. These Kids should know that they have a very short lifespan if they join one of these allready. Beware of Homin Heros !)

Such behavioral changes would provide a new source of challange for us, although they´d probalby have to be implemented by a small patch ever so often. I wouldn´t mind that at all. As long as it gave us the need to figure out a new strategy for these guys. And with that a break from the repetition.
(Why Pai just standing in his niche, waiting to be blasted of his feet is a question Atys Sages have been debating for some cycles, y´know.
Appart from why these evil Marauders keep being resurrected by one Deity or the other. But well, even evil Homins do find mercy in the gods eyes ;) )

On a sidenote, the way it is now, I suspect we´re the only MMO that can legally claim to have slayin all 4 "World Bosses" in one day ;) :D 5 if you count Arken.

Missions like : "There´s a plague of Yubos, that keeps eating our crops and these things procreate like... well, yubos! Go kill some of them."
are at least logical in a sense. They of course get boring after a while, but why is it so hard to come up with things like these that will not end up boring?
I must admit that I´m raking my brain here for better ideas.
How about we begin to collect some Ideas for such missions?

Only condition:
No Repeat-Kill Quests.

Anyone care to make a thread on the other side of the board? ;)

I really really liked some of the player-run events/missions that were starting to happen shortly before the great lag began. There were some that were immensely creative, challenging, and interesting.

I'd rather see more things like that (but run by CSRs) than repeatable missions. It just seems more fun to do something unique and saga-developing rather than anything over and over that changes nothing.

I could see missions that an individual character could only do once. That would be OK, so long as it fit the lore and made sense to be repeated by others.

Rites, of course, are by definition repeatable, nothing illogical there.

Also, "kill bandits" missions would be FAR more interesting if they moved their camp when wiped out. Or new bandits moved in to the area.

On a related note, I'd like to see gang wars between bandit groups too. :) If gingos can hunt bodocs, why couldn't Davae's Clutch fight with Avalae Charmers? How about Green Seeds hunting them both?

There's a tribe and bandit group near Virginia Falls, in Hidden Source, which fight against each other of their own spontaneous volition...it would be cool to see more of that, among tribes that aren't so adjacent but whose ideals clash sufficiently for them to want to send out battle groups to beat upon each other. ^_^

As far as I know, that was initially planned to be possible, but prooved to be too exploitable. By simply pitting these Groups against each other or on others to gain Fame. So, I don´t think it will be done again.

I fail to see how that would work...if it's something tribes/bandits just do naturally and automatically, how could players gain fame from it?

Maybe I've forgotten how fame gain works. :o

LOL, like fame is so hard to gain, I simply must find an exploit...

You should only gain fame for kills you make yourself, anyway. Or at least assist, get in a hit or a heal. I dislike how you can get fame simply by standing nearby while teamed with someone else who does the deed. It should be more challenging.

Anyway, I think we've wandered off topic. I'm heading over to the other thread about missions amd rites.
