Game is not the same, it has a new owner, new challenges, new problems, so obviously the "attitude" of the community is different. There is nothing wrong with the community IMHO and i get a little bit annoyed when i see people blaming the community for what not.
Remember the forum turmoil when many TP's became available only to factions?, thinking about that period, i would say community is much better now :P .
The community i see now, loves Ryzom a lot and cares about its fate even when they post something negative....the way its always been, but that is of course my personal impression, i might be wrong.

*winces* why are -some- people acting like i'm trying to degrade the community? o.O i'm genuinely disgruntled and want to know how people feel in general, and honestly from listening to those who bothered to post, i'd say the community is getting along swell. understandable, new owners etc etc - but its still the same community? sure we react to things differently - so on and so forth - but we're still playing the same game (really how much has changed...?)

i said -06- because compared to 04/05 there's really very little comparison.. as someone said once IG - those of us from "the old days" before the fame patches - are the 'golden oldies' - and for the few of us that have survived, i'm sure none will disagree the community was -better- then...

anywho, despite the number of 'worse' theres more in the other sections- and i think thats a great opinion in general. disgruntled players here 'n there, but fairly good posts overall. i'm content with the results, and am happy with most people's responses.

The community as a neccessity was better in the early days. Everyone was small and without a strong community effort we would have progressed much slower. We truly needed everyone just to survive. I doubt any who missed the first year appreciate how hard we worked to overcome the difficulties.Today many crossover to the ML and within minutes are given a million daps and complete set of gear.Guilds who still make new guildies work their way with guidance, help in the form of knowledge garnered over years of experience have gone out of fashion. We need to recapture the pioneer spirit that made us a special community.-Kil

-Remember the 1st time you made it to an outlying town (for me Dyron) and saw all the neew "Stuff" ?
-Remember the 1st time you made it to your 1st new region ?
-Remember the 1st time you made it to each of the others ?
-Remember the 1st time you saw the different color or different mobs in the new regions ?
-Remember seeing new beasties for the 1st time ?

It was that sense of discovery for the incredible landscape that is Ryzom which was still the greatest thrill in game.

Gameplay is so much different once you have the very simplest of things. A pckaer for example allows one to say go out to crossroads and hunt without having to return to empty bacg every 15 minutes. But I don't think throwing a new arrival a packer for instance impacts his / her experience negatively in any way. I do however think that the biggest thing we rob from our new players is the sense of discovery, wonder and accomplishment they would get from doing these things on their own.

I'm oft tempted to run a "Bunny Treks" on a schedule where we just "follow" the trekkies and provide an emergency rez and advice service. Nothing is learned and little experienced when a bunch of 250's blast their way thru in a straight line. Trekkies are concentrating on following the ubers, who are almost always in a rush, and don't have time to "stop and smell the Cratcha".

Say something like:

1st Saturday of Month - Kami Native Land TP's
2nd Saturday of Month - Karavan Native Land TP's
3rd Saturday of Month - 4 Lands Capital Cities
4th Saturday of Month - Prime Roots TP's

I take the opposite aproach usually.

ie
How many lowbies can i get to all capital citys on my own :D

I never trek to TPs with lowbies unless it is to grind with them.
...and i push em to the max (of their player skills)

ie me doing kinchers as ele @ lv 230+ with only 2 'less than 101' healers ;)
allways fun :)

wich reminds me of Jnf (left game cos of parents :( ) he rocked. even tho he was only 9!
(id pit him against sunce anyday and he'd win hands down :D )

though i live in the ring / Fh stables now.
