I get 1k for the extraction.

I have found with caring ...

same levels
I prospect and extract, but the lvl60 cares while I extract, we are teamed.
I get the same 1k
They get 1511k for the caring.

I have not yet tried the following:
Not teamed low level prospects.
I extract, while a different lower lvl teamed harvester cares.

Might try this one later... would be interesting.

I have experimented with 1 extractor + 2 x carer - xp is split between the carers, so its not really a worth while exercise. (Unless your 2 carer have different care plan types).

im not sure on this exp thing with a higher lvl harvester using a low lvl careplanner in my view the exp should be shared equally whereas the higher lvl gets less than half the exp hed normally get and the lower lvl gets over the ammount of his normal exp its prob why alot of people still think of harvesting as a solo skill imho

i cant stand harvesting, i just dont have the patience for it at the moment, only place i used to go was PR but we all know whats goin on there...

Personally I don't take much notice of the source mode. While digging a source the source mode can change at least 3 times.

I have pondered on this harvesting XP thing for a long long time.

I even posted a question regarding it when it was introduced around version 2 of patch 1.

I question the logic of some of the things in harvesting in general.

Odd things.....

1. Fact (in patch notes) your focus doesn't refill if you dig a self spawning spot.

- I find this odd as the majority of people harvesting these spot are low lvls, trying to learn. The rules end up changing on them as soon as they get prospecting.

2. You get XP from an un-teamed persons prospect, but you don't get it from caring unteamed.

- I understand if I am trying to dig a spot and a 'drive by carer' applies one care plan and runs off with 50%+ of my xp and has not in fact help me in any way, I would be annoyed. But it does mean a un-selfish high level harvester can trade his time (no xp, down time on recharge) to help a lower level get more mats and stay alive. But there is no reason, to do this for long.

3. un-teamed carer doesn't get a re-fill. Don't understand this one, it seems to have the same non-logic as self spawning spots.

4. The team XP is not pooled and equally divided, which means you get the following results:

A = lvl 100+ harvest
B = lvl 50 harvest

A and B team.

A prospects and B digs
A gets a tiny XP amount (5xp)
B gets a good XP amount (1700xp)

A prospects and B digs while A cares
A gets a tiny XP amount (5xp)
B gets a tiny XP amount (5xp)

B prospects and A digs
B gets a very good XP amount (2500xp)
A gets a small XP amount (900xp)

B prospects and A digs and B cares
B gets a very good XP amount (2500xp)
A gets a small XP amount (900xp)

A prospects and A digs and B cares
A gets a small XP amount (900xp)
B gets a good XP amount (1511xp)

These are the examples I have tried, xp amounts are example figures for illistration.

Net effect, apart from the high lvl caring, the lower level char is being power leveled by the High level.

The high level is losing by helping .... get maybe 1 extra mat, loses more than 50% XP, ties up 2 harvesters that could be extract 4-5xql60 + 8-9xql110.

The benefit of teaming:

-If the carer is a lady in Zorai light/medium ..... the view is wonderful!
-You can spend more time chatting than if you have to remember to switch to careplans 1/2 way through.
-you can look in 2 directions at once, useful when harvesting on a patrol route.
-the total XP is much higher, but it mainly goes to the lower lvl harvester.
-In the roots if you have a friend with PR spec, you can get +30 ql mats with the right extraction plan


6. If you forget to take you mats and start a new source you lose your mats.


Got to go .... harvesting seems to be being reduced to the level on skill required by low level fighters.

it seems that these 2 are due to someone exploiting a rescource if you prospect and they take your rescource you will recieve exp for it because they could have taken it without your permission and youd be pretty annoyed if you got noting for it

same really with an unteamed carer they could be an unwanted carer and youd be pretty annoyed if they just lowerd your exp without asking so all team stuff has to be teamed b4 they get exp or instant regen on focus to stop people exploiting your spots for free

My other thinking for why we don't get balanced XP (equally divided) like fight/magic team XP is.....

If you took into account the highest level harvester skill (as with team fighting is highest skill used) it would be either highly exploitable or not worth the effort.

Highly exploitable = everyone in team get same XP, would allow 9x 1000xp as an example. If all members of the team were harvesting this would be 9x 9x 1000xp or 8100xp from 9 pulls in the same time frame as one extraction.

Pointless = high lvl char kills xp for group. Unless they are all the same lvl in harvest which would discourge high lvl working with low levels.


TBH ... I find the current system workable and it does cause me any major issues anyway.

I will care for a low lvl harvest if I am passing by, it never hurts anyone to just stop for 1 min and help someone and you are usually travelling somewhere that means I regain my focus back by the time I get there anyway.

I team with guildies and non-guildes, I enlist a carer to increase my pulled mats. 1 extra mat over 10 harvests is equivelent of 1 complete harvest in no extra time and at lvl 132 I really am not that bothered about gaining lvls (I am a crafter at heart and my craft is 20 lvls behind my harvest anyway.

The economy can support 1000s of harvesters anyway, crafter consume mats like mad! I can pull 200 mats in about 30-40 mins maybe less and craft through those mats in under 2-3 mins!

Hmmm, maybe i need to start hardcore mining it up, makes sense at the end of the day i suppose.

I made a new char just to backup on my steps to get bether xp and wotsh my stanzas as i test them.

If you ar low level you MUST harvest from a sorce that is within yor q range... I have seen it m8ts. You get more xp when you stay in yor Q line of sorces. With my stupid lil noob harvester i get 1500xp on tir 1 harmfull extract with 5m range and 2 spot digging prospect and all of this right in noobtown!!

Beleve it or not.

I'm running off to a q50 spot.

So we can state that to get xp you need to stay in yor q level aria and not wonder of in high level zones without high levels babysitting you.

Lol, got out of bed and started to prospect with a new char. in 20 min time i have harvesting 10.

edit; probebly going to say there to make stuff 4 new ppl. As i can easely stay till level 50 harvest and craft.
