How the hell do you bot digging?
Auto-clicker on an alt is allowed providing you are at the keyboard. This is hardly a bot.
A bot would need to 1) Find Nodes, 2) dig them without blowing the place up, 3) Detect and deal with agro.

Please do not let us discuss this please. Just take it as given, that it is possible to do so.

Lol, I did not wish to start a discussion, should have put ! instead of ?.
I was surprised that it was even possible, so I could not understand why people should be looking for dig bots.

There were some accounts suspended/banned because of bot usage as rumors tell.

I usually run to every blue dot I see just to see who's there, /wave, then run off. I know digging takes concentration, but I'm a social player, not a bot hunter.
Sarpe, if a nasty wannabe bot hunter drags aggro on you, call and I'll do my best to come rez you and your alt, but don't let them spoil your fun...
Personally, I don't approve of bots because I don't see the point nor the merit of doing so... not only you pay a subscription to let a machine play instead of you, but also, since you're not the one playing, you don't gain any player skills and you also lose the feeling of accomplishment after mastering a botted skill.
But I won't be reporting them as long as they are no harm for the community (example of harmful bots : gold farmers/spammers). It's between them, their consciousness of what they're doing, and the CSRs are the only ones allowed to decide. I believe that at the moment, losing players because of aggressive bot hunting is more harmful to the survival of the game than the botters themselves.
Don't make the mistake to think I approve of botting, I hate bots that ruin my game, but if they don't, I couldn't care less if they are really botting or not.

For the life of me I can't begin to understand why anyone "botting" is of any interest to another human being. Who cares ? Do these people also look in their neighbors windows to see what archaic law they might be breaking when activities between two consenting adults are happening ?
How does another person "dig botting" affect another player in any way ? And you have to love the assurance that "yes there are bots because of "rumors". I can't think of an instance where the saying "Get a life" was more apropos.
As a corollary, the only thing I find more annoying than the sometimes childish / offensive chatter in uni is self appointed "Hall Monitors" telling other people what they can talk about.

Botting is cheating and gives an unfair advantage. I think its only natural for players to dislike being cheated at a game.

I can understand your frustration. I had a player come up to me while digging, run circles around me, and then proceeded to pop spots all over mine.. I mean 6 to 8 casts.. I guess he thought I was a bot because I could move my mouse and see which spot was mine and kept digging, and then he gassed a node of his and I had to move. I DID report it, but nothing was done, as far as I know.

I usually /em wave when I am in the middle of an extraction, just to let people know I saw them. The polite thing to do
