Well, I´m looking very much looking happily forward to all the "Search & Protect" Missions I´m going to go on with my friends. Helping them dig and getting a share of the spoils for me protecting them from harm as good as I can. We did that before and it was massive fun!

I see it as it is probably intended to be:
Getting the Homins to become closer and more depending on each others help and reestablishing the Kitin as the threat to homin security the way they were meant to be.
In addition to finally getting the story going again.

Sadly and understandably not everyone will be happy about these developments and I don´t envy the people at the top the in the slightest these tough decisions to make. I only can congratulate them for not going the easy, cookie cutter way! Bravo!
Players need challenges to arise to, not silver plates to be served.

While I agree that their aggro range is a bit tough at the moment. But who knows, maybe they´ll calm down a little with time and the next small patch? ;)

My two cents.

My first PR digging foray was in KP-enabled Abyss of Ichor. One of my best experiences in gaming. Now I want to do more PR digging.

I'm sure you will be one of the few :P I know for me, its off my list of things to do. Kincher/Kirosta/Kipucka/Varinx/Tyranchas with 5x normal health was enough for me already lol.

Maybe in the quieter areas of PR KP is good (I agree PR should be dangerous - to an extent). But in the more aggro filled areas. Why even bother.

This is one of the few things 'older' players like, that I am very unsure of. And doubt will have a positive effect. (Especially, with their current outrageous aggro range.)

I cant understand why people are so happy about this, describing it as fun.

It doesnt really matter to me, I have my PR dig done, but I find the KP's down there to be a pretty obnoxiously aggro addition.

I can see it being a big turn off for new players and one more strike against Ryzom, when people have to decide Yay or Nay as to whether they will subscribe. Turning Ryzom into more of an anachronism.

How can KP's stop Ryzom from being a cookie cutter MMO? I really dont get that at all, I have seen experienced players over the last couple of days get max DP and none of them were bragging about it, they were pretty pissed off.

With regard to the search and destroy missions, well good luck getting them together on a regular basis on Arispotle, Sweetmarie is currently trying to organise one and tbh, people aren't exactly tripping over themselves to sign up, currently I am the only signature there.

MMO's have changed, Ryzom is different enough to fill its niche postion without these KP's. As Gorran pointed out earlier, PR is one of the jewels in Ryzoms crown and is uncommonly beautiful, but people will now avoid it like the plague. :(

Actually, I thought most of Lands of Umbra quite laughable and easy to get through, before there were KP's.

When I started this game in september 2004, the Roots were the scariest place on Atys, and I think they should be. It's the place where the kitins roam. Having the KP's back only sounds good to me. (Although, reading here that they got 70+ agro range might overdo it a bit, but still...)

I doubt it will matter for new players. Imo, you like Ryzom or you don't. If you like it, you get used to mobs that are stronger then you are, so meeting even harder ones in the most dangerous place on Atys only makes more logical to me.
If new players make it to the roots, they'll know how to cope with the KP's. But most new players hardly ever reach that, as they grow bored with the mainland being a sandbox a bit too big for them...

Side thread: now can we please have the Kirosta Boss (and hench-kitins) at Maze of Sprite Border Post back too? It was such a great challenge to get past that mob guarding that outpost on a trek to or from Tryker...

I'm only looking at this from a trek stand point.

But anyway, I by no means want 'easy mode' Or I wouldn't be playing Ryzom in the first place. However. I don't want frustration either. Hard does not always = good.

Hard is only good if its fun hard, Not stupid hard. And a normal size trek for instance (these days) is between 5-9 ppl. usually with at least 2-5 of those being newbs. Run that into a KP and its DP for everyone.

Now this is being if KP are in ToT (no one answered that yet :P ) seeing as I can't remember where they are (was still semi low level when they were removed 175-200 range)...

And on the note of adding anything between tryker and anywhere... please for the love of all that is good in the universe don't do that!!! do it between Fyros and Zoraï, or even Fyros and Matis... But the time it takes to get to FH from anywhere, is border line annoying already. (not even the hardness, just the TIME.) I enjoy trekking. But its too time consuming to get to FH already.

My suggestion to try and make everyone happy... Have KP get progressively smaller/weaker the further you get from the nearest Kitin nest... Then they could stay in, And not be such an annoyance aswell. The pop is too small to handle such adversaries anyway.

You don't fight KP; you avoid them. Granted, their current aggro range is large enough to make evasion difficult, but I assume that will be reduced at some point.

Were KP still enabled when outposts were announced? 'Cause I think a Kitin patrol is what sauntered through a group of Dragonblades who were surveying a potential outpost (before we learned that no Roots OPs would be activated). It was hilarious. The Kitin: "WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBOURHOOD." Us: *splat* ...Except for two. The two survivors ran like hell and managed to res' everyone after a minute or two. :) So no, even a small group taken by surprise and composed mostly of medium and low levels has a chance of surviving without any DP.

That reminds me, Every since I moved back down to MD I havn't seen or heard from Turrok,I wonder how ol Turroks doin these days... Turrok moved out the same time I did, and also moved to MD o.o just not sure which part heh.

And anyway - Back then the game had more players then it does now... After OPs... It was never quite the same. (shame too because OPs can be fun)
