Mektoub Packers (half breed cow and elephant) are like a bank: you do not want to bring them in danger zone or they would die fast.... Can retrieve from dead packer for 2 or 3 days but it is always a sad moment :)

Mektoub mount: the one you can ride across towns with very small inventory is only as resistant as you: the mount have your stats and you can not attack when riding .... So if you are high melee and high dodge-parry (either-or) you wil be ale to roam the low lvl lands without worries...
if you are low lvl; then you may see than you receive few hits while riding..

The mount is only as good as the rider.... clever isn't it...... (not me.. the game :) )

I really hope so! *cough cough* >.>
YES :)

Sorry to make 2 posts but too lazy to edit :)

they started with our VIP friends; a 5 days close beta to make sure nothing was broken (becos of GF)...
I am pretty sure they would have extended it in case of any problem....

But all went well; game has been running 4 years in September so no big worries :)
They manage to launch it back with no complain from French, German and english speaking communities (no complain from French community is only matter of speaking :) )

From there... Next week is loving; we ALL go in :)
Ryzom is back :)

Close to 4 years; 3 years and 11 month from first starting-published date and after 2 seizure during that time; next week is for all of us :)
Meet ya there :)

Yay!!! That's so cool, having a little caravan going on, I don't think I'd do this for a long time yet, but just the fact that you can is sweet ^^

Yes gillest that is very clever! I wouldn't want my poor mektoub to die so I'd have to be very careful or wait until I'm a high enough level. Though my first priority is getting a house anyway, which means getting faction points I believe. I'll be heading to Zorai, so if in a month or so if you see a dark haired Matis in the blue people land, it might be me. ;)

Oooo I want a house too, is housing for high lvls or can it be obtained at lower levels providing you have the money?

It can be obtained by anyone who has the money.

You need positive fame with the race whose capital city you want to buy an apartment in, though.

Fame is easier to get with higher combat skills, but can be gained regardless. You can even gain it purely by harvesting and/or crafting. It's gained by performing missions, which are simple menial tasks provided by NPCs. Kinda like quests, but not - their only reward is fame and sometimes a tiny amount of dappers (money), and they have no pretensions of story.

Anyway, if you want to raise a negative racial fame, your simplest option is to do missions for the City Welcomer at the main entrance of that race's capital city.

Once you have positive fame you are enabled to take missions from many more of their NPCs, if you want to raise your standing with them further (higher race fame = better price for goods you sell to their merchants and for buying NPC items like mektoubs and basic tools). Corporals offer kill missions, Local Messengers offer delivery missions, and so on, whereas the City Welcomer offers a variety of task types. I can't remember off the top of my head which NPCs besides the C.W. offer harvesting tasks, but here's a little fact that may or may not interest you: some harvesting missions are available only in certain seasons.

The most rewarding missions are bandit-killing ones. Bandits are aggressive groups of NPCs who camp in specific places. Unlike tribes, they do not have members with roles indicated by a title, they do not offer missions, they have no Kami or Karavan ambassador, you cannot gain or lose fame with them, and they're indiscriminate in their aggression. Anyway, missions to kill a certain number of a certain bandit group provide almost 1 fame per completion. These are more difficult than other kill missions because bandits are even more likely to gang up on you than social animals. Some bandit groups are easier than others though, and in some, the members are of varying difficulty.

...I digress... :p

One more elucidation: By default you will have positive fame with two races and negative fame with the other two.

Oh sorry I meant I was going to start in Zorai from Silan, then trek all over the place, probably try the easiest and go to Pyr first.

Houses are good and nice but are nothing compared to packers:

Packers make you enjoy the game socially much more..
becos:

- inside apartment (which more or less are nothing but big storage space) you can not craft direct but need to take stuff out of house storage...
- You can not invite anyone in apartment so it's a pretty lonely place

Packers on the other sides are usually parked inside stables and most players are there for crafting direct from packer storage; changing equipment, storing stuff....
Or just standing there endlessly (hiya Ratara :) )
So stables is the place to be :)

I strongly recommend to buy 3 packers before any apartment :)

Also as soon as I can login; I am fully willing to finance anyone asking who does not have enough cash to buy his-her first packers :)
