I cannot believe that people would rather see Ryzom gone and not be able to run around Atys any more, rather than some other financial solution be imposed????
Its like a kind of snobbery that you would cut off your nose, to spite your face, rather than new players come here
Last Chaos has about 750k players, the company runs three games in total and they are all successful, now lets take this a bit further.
You dont have to interact with anyone you dont want to, you can stick within the confines of your guilds/alliances and insulate yourself from the rest of the players, personally I think it would be both your loss and their loss for an attitude like that to arise.
These "leet kiddies" as you call them, is such a sad term, encompassed by the old phrase " a few rotten apples spoil the whole bunch", They are not all obnoxious idiots.
To use an item mall (micro purchases) you need a credit card, kiddies dont have credit cards, in LC, they are among the hardest grinders out there and grind mobs for hours on end and use the market to the best effect to attain gold, to buy Item Mall points from boring old farts (like me
) who have credit cards and are too lazy/busy to grind (btw I dont use/sell Mall Points, i mean Im an old fart
).
All I can say is, poor old Ryzom, its biggest fans would prefer to let it die rather than be cured

agree with Valda and the OP, we have our friendslist, we are still the originals, if you want to have nothing to do with the kiddies then you dont have to. Bringing in a item mall and opening it up as a free game doesn't scare me at all, they can carry on and buy thier fire sword of doom ql 130 if it means I get to play (for free aswel woohoo).
Imo the worst thing about this game is the mass spam recruiting guilds that offer nothing for its members, with such an influx of players this would halt, the good players will stay and join us to play a good game, the kids will powerlevel, spend $60 and leave after 2 weeks.
If it happens it will secure the game, and not affect anyone as long as you turn off uni chat. Like Valda pointed out, Last Chaos is extremely sucessful and fun to play, the item mall isnt pushed into the users face, and at higher (28+) levels regions are pretty empty, you dont need to sell 20 parry swords to make an average user interested, a stack of cats or a boosting tool will surfice.
No needs to go to extremes, but look at the trends, free mmo`s are taking over, whether it be browser or installed software, yes 90% hate advertising in games, yes 90% hate item malls, but those games are sucessful, and I think the community can evolve and survive this if it happened. Maybee even enjoy it.

additionally, currently this game has 2 alliances, imagine how interesting it world be with 6 or 7 alliances/sub-alliances. Dappers have a purpose, only people with a few masters complain that dapper means nothing, the market is alive if you look for it, personnally i used to log in at 7am just to buy the mats form the merchants every morning (yep i know
), but this game goes further than that, it has many different currencies, dapper, cats, mats, oot healing etc, games like wow have just one currency, gold, this is why this game has more potential to the "borowed credit card from dad" generation.
Sell them 30 stacks of cats, a ql 130 supreme 21 speed sword and a ql 130 armour with shiney bits, he pays $25 dollars, he doesnt affect us.

It is better to let a game, or anything for that matter, die rather than become undead due to compromising/destroying its most important aspects.
Community has always been one of Ryzom's most important and cherished aspects.
Meaningful crafting has also always been one of Ryzom's most important and cherished aspects.
If Ryzom went F2P-with-cash-shop-etc., I would go so far as to actively work to finish it off.
Anyone else here seen the Cyberwoman episode of Torchwood? Ryzom would become like Lisa, and ought to have the same fate.

play last chaos katriel, they sell items for big bucks that give a item a 50% risk of boosting, 7 or 8 consectutive boosts are required to make a great weapon, therefore less then 3% of purchases are sucessful and dont affect the game, meanwhile the more experienced players sell these boosting stones at market to the players who want them knowing that they are overated.
Exp potions are sold at market for big bucks too, and are a big seller through item malls.
How do these items differ from cats and boosting tools? people pay for it, with big bucks. I say let them level and get a boosted ql 110 spear of doom

It differs because it makes RL financial castes relevant in-game.
You know what...if you people like the way Last Chaos is so much, go play it, don't even speak of those corrosive concepts here.

sure, just turn off uni, more details follow
nazak07 wrote:Free Games= Immature Children Playing
to keep uni on/read region when in lvl 50 towns. They only affect you if you want them to
nazak07 wrote:Free Games= Tons of people.... when you can't level anywhere b/c there are 30 people in line to kill something
The world is big, and in my experience its only hard for the first 15-20% of the game, 20-80% its great to find teams, end content no-one is about
nazak07 wrote:Cash Shops= More money a plus
aye to pay for devs, bug fixes, events, updates
nazak07 wrote:Cash Shops= People with more Real life money being better off.. sooo not fair
to a point, as long as cash shop items dont sell lixie armours etc
nazak07 wrote:Cash Shops= Hurt Crafters
many of the crafters see crafting ql 80 HQ gear as a burden(or a neccessity to equipt vendors with good stuff) rather than a pleasure, this could eliminate this if implemeted properly

One reason ryzom keeps me around and most others is the beautiful community... I would leave and many others would if it went F2p, just because of the horrible change in community...
you want quantity or quality? I prefer the latter

Kat, theres no such thing as perfect, to get what you want, you may have to give a little. Personally i played last chaos for a few weeks, great mechanics/events, crap world, compared to ryzom which has a great world but lacks the other. The two are uncomparable, but both have great concepts, corrosive? maybee but attitudes need to change else alot of people are in for a shock.
