kami faction points for kamist, karavan faction points for karavaneer, neutral can get them both ;-)
(but they need to get mission story right)

personally i dont like crystals, so it would be bad reward ;-)

my prefernece would be as follows:

We have ranger NPC's in the capitals, or better yet in the high level towns as this is high level content.

the mission(s) give the choice of
*crystals
*an OP material of choice (could be tied into the lore easily enough with a super nexus or something)
*fame with the rangers

then you have a nice device to reward fame at various levels: new crafting plans, titles, etc from the rangers.

and yes fame is better than collecting 100 small tokens, trading them in 10 at a time for medium size tokens, then trading these in 5 at a time for large tokens and finally exchanging for something :p

katriell wrote: Another possibility is armor that is of a new, different aesthetic design but has mediocre stats. A novelty, but not useful enough to put crafters out of business or encourage rampant and repeated farming. Armor made out of kitin carapace would be cool. :D
As a light armorer, i would love this. Nevertheless, speaking in general terms... I think one strategic objective for the content creator/reward scheme designer (ohua, buzzwords) would be to make the mission/task/rite interesting as longer as possible (in theory perpetually ). With permanent rewards and without a streamlined and regular update players can get the rewards once and reward-wise the attention spawn for the zone decreases. Durable rewards do seem better for do_once things like rites

Some possibilities for inoffensive rewards.

1. Consumables that don't suck or disable your normal boosts.
2. Being able to learn a new crafting plan, as a reward for beating up these kitin nests. Some sort of special anti-kitin armour with good values against the most common kitin attacks, or armour rewards that are HEAVILY specialised to such an end.
3. Crystals - an independent non-PvP revenue stream for Crystals is needed, R2 will likely help with that, but this could be good too.
4. Jewels of similar proportions of ability/longevity as th existing boss jewels (eg split bonus).
5. Kitin larvae.
6. A small number of 'OP' mats. (again an alternate non PVP way to get them).
7. Supreme PR mats (again, a non PVP way to get them).

Basically using this new PvE content to counterbalance the more recent new content.

How bout a big bad nasty looking stuffed kittin to decorate your home and show off your leetness to players? heh.
Ok, well eq2 does such things, gives a decorative reward for certain quests, that have no other real reason to exist except prestige (players can visit other people's homes, and furniture/decorations etc are mostly crafted by players.. just a social tool, what.. showoff! heh.)

I doubt handing plans for items would result in anything good. As Anissa said; why go back once you have the plan? But learning plans from the Rangers and then being awarded small amounts of materials that only work in those plans would perhaps work. Heh, I wonder how many Kamists and Karavaneers would eventually pick up those plans and materials in that case? Seen the non-factional if not opposing nature of the Rangers.

But no supremes or Kitin larva; that' s just all we need for it to get farmed.

Same as the number of Karavaneers who use magic. ;)
