Love those comments - i'd recommend walking into roots and trying to get supreme mats. Even if you do know what it is by the time you dig those out you will have your 520K penalty. And THEN you have to work it off.

Previously it was just as easy to get 1 unit of basic material as one unit of supreme material, and insanely difficult to get decent quantities of anything.

We need proper fixes for the long-term, not "quick fixes" that will truly destroy the game in the long run.

Some people obviously have a much easier time than that. The issue is if supreme mats are too easy to get, then the challenge and not the amount of time camping is what needs to be raised.

BTW, just logged out of the game. Some guild crafters were upset looking at the q50 materials. Seems for our armor crafters the store bought materials were about 2 defense less than what they could make with choice materials.

These things should really be discussed more before being thrown into the game. It was good when they were taken out during beta for a good reason and IMO they really should have stayed out.

Please implement a proper economy fix, rather than a material jury-rig slap-patch.

The fact that they fixed a bunch of stuff before Patch 1 is very cool.

i hate you for pointing that out :(

In addition there no longer are any supreme or better mats in the roots. Which means there are no more supreme or better mats and hunters are the ones who can get the best materials.

So if hunters get the most materials, the best materials, survive better, and have the purpose of protection? This patch is really killing harvesting.

Will probably take a while for many to notice it until they're past that novelty of choice materials. But the purpose of harvesters ends at those lower levels where choice materials are so great.

Although this move caused pain at the start (like every change) it was one of the best moves they made during beta.

Its now almost pointless being a harvester until level 60 instead of 30!!!

I'm not as passionate about it as svayvti but I agree that this was probably not a good move.

So were can you buy q50 mats? I went to Yrkanis this morning and they did not have any q50 mats or items for sale.

buying mats from the npc vendors is a good way to lvl up to a point. If you buy npc mats to make armor, they will not make as good of an armor set as harvested or farmed mats will. If someone cant make armor that is better than npc bought, they need to work harder at getting better mats to use. There is no threat to the crafting market by flooding it with lower quality items. All this does is provide a better start for crafters to get going on. Everyone will face the same problems at 60+ quality stuff that they did at q30 pre-patch. This just provides more time for the harvesters/crafters to get their skills up.

Crafters will still need to buy mats from the npcs, which will be very expensive to lvl up. Which means they'll need to farm npcs for items to craft with or to sell mats to buy more mats. This change will only drop prices for armor under 50 qual.

As for supreme and excellent mats, they're now harder to get. If people want to spend time that's their right. That person will have to spend a really long time getting enough mats to make something with em.

I am a crafter, and everytime I have asked over region chat looking for mats for sale I have gotten exactly 0 responses... So the harvester is supposed to provide those ql 50 mats for me to practice on, where are they? I am forced as a crafter to level up my harvest to get those mats. If everyone levels up a harvester, is there really a harvesting profession niche? I for one love these new mats. It allows me to do crafting missions in a reasonable amount of time comparable to a hunter doing a hunting mission. Previously before the patch, it often took me 4 hours to do one crafting mission.

Actually .. we looked at this lastnight. While you could get better items by making them from farmed mats .. they were only slightly better and that was using choice mats with good stats. This means that in order to sell anything under q60, the crafter will need to price the items the same as the NPC items. Otherwise people just wont pay it. Now take into account that the crafter will need to find choice mats, it just ends up not being worth it.
