as far as I know, she meant using any quality higher than the one that is optimized for your level, as long as you set up your stanzas matched to that level

i use different stanzas based on the level of skill I am using. when, I use a stanza that is much much higher, enough to cover the Q of the weapon, the damage I give does not change a single digit.

Q180 dagger
Level 120 CC

Max damage with inc atack brick high enough for weapon Q ; 121
Max damage with inc attack brick high enough for my CC level; 121

Identical

Edit: I haven't tested yet for weapons below my skill level - but I find it hard to believe you need to match the level if it's higher, but the Q if it's lower, seems like a mixed up system. Shouldn't it be based on the same thing in either case?

I'm just saying that there are cases where you need to account for weapon quality as well. Its always been skill level and weapon level. Many of the players may now think...well why wouldnt I always use a weapon thats my skill level.

They all forget the pains where levels for fight/magic quickly past the levels that crafters were able to make :D

Ah, gotcha. Yes, when using a weapon of a quality higher than your level the weapon will only do as much damage as it would if it were the same quality as your level, so there's no point using a stanza of a higher level.

But there's definitely a difference when using a weapon of a quality lower than your level. If you're level 60, using a level 20 damage stanza with a quality 20 sword will double the sword's damage, but using the same level 20 damage stanza with a quality 40 sword will only increase the sword's damage by 50%.

Hey, no fair editing your post after we've already replied to it :p

But yeah, you do need to match stanzas with the weapon quality if it's lower. I tested it for the increase hitrate brick on ranged weapons once:
Skill level: 110
q10 gun with hit rate +1: 80% speed increase
q10 gun with hit rate +7: 80% speed increase
q110 gun with hit rate +1: 10% speed increase
q110 gun with hit rate +7: 80% speed increase

It seems fair to me, why should a level 250 swordsman be forced to used level 250 stanzas to get the full effect out of a quality 10 sword?

Wouldn't be the first time a question from a new player leads to a discussion amongst the repliers. Shows how much we know about Atys ;)

Hehe, sorry. I hit edit right after I posted - but was in game at the same time and didn't finish it for a while :p

It makes sense that you need a stanza to match your level if the weapon is high er Q but you need a stanza to match the weaponQ if it's lower. I'm glad the system differentiates

The stanza descriptions are poorly written and make it sound like you always need to match the weapon Q, I've met many people using unneccessarily high bricks just becaus they have a Q100 weapon on a lvl 50 skill.
