With Yelks close to the spot, about 1 minute. -> Lure yelk to the packers / mounts, kill it, let the stink do its wonders.

With harvesting spots around about 1 minute, less if lucky -> Make a prospect till you have a spot under or very close to the animal, harvest with full agressive, only care with source life. Hope it either blows up high enough or it releases a nice cloud.

Still looking for more options since there are packers in places I haven't been able to kill yet =P. Especially pets parked in water prove to be a real challenge.

I really disagree with intentionally harassing someone like this. Yes, it's annoying when a packer is in your path, however, you can walk right through them if you just keep walking forward into them and if they're totally obstructing an NPC, you can always use the /target command.

I just see this as a way to generate some serious ill will in the community over something that's just not that big of a deal. I can just see some new player that is all excited because they finally saved up for their new mount/packer. They leave it in front of the stable thinking they're doing the right thing, only to have someone that couldn't be bothered walking through/around it or using the /target command spend the time to kill it.

It's the kind of thing that just doesn't reflect well on this community and I don't think people should resort to these tactics.

I think if you ask people politely, you'll find they'll probably move their packer. I think the original poster did just that and somehow it evolved into a "we'll show them!" type of attitude.

What I'd like to see come out of this is some work by the devs to help alleviate the problem. Showing the owner's name would be a big step as you'd know who to contact and over time would help distinguish between the chronic destableizing community members and the newbies that just don't know any better. They could also do things like have idle packers "auto stable" after a few minutes.

If I recall correctly only the packers of players who are actually online are visible - when a friend of mine crashed during a little packer transport his packers disappeared at the same time he did.

Would be interesting to introduce a Packer Parking Police which may confiscate packers that are parked in a non-parking zone :P - pay the dappers or you don't get back your packers!

Well ok, this would probably be hard to implement. Just show the owner of the packer somehow and we can send them a tell.

Showing the name can also lead to griefing.

I'm not sure there is a solution that would solve all the problems.

I know a solution. Make it a rules violation to kill a person's packer and/or mount. While I always make sure to either store my packer in the stables or in an out of the way place when in town, I can see how it would be frustrating for someone getting around. Still this is no reason at all to purposely kill another player's packer or mount. Packers and especially mounts aren't cheap especially for new players. I think a person killing someone's packer(s) should be made to pay that person double what the packer is worth. That'll put a stop to such immature behavior.

How do you solve the packer/mount parking problem? How bout in town, once a person has logged out or is afk a certain amount of time, the packer(s) automatically get stabled.

I also like the idea of a "traffic cop" so to speak that several of you have brought up. This is a very plausible and neat idea in my opinion. Leave your packers and/or mount double parked for too long and you get fined a certain amount of dappers the first time. The second offense would see the packer(s) and/or mount impounded for a certain amount of time in addition to a steeper fine. A player would get a warning much like harvesters get from the kami when the tolerance is at 0 and they continue digging that their packer is double parked after leaving it in a local that is not approved for packer parking. After a certain amount of time a second warning would pop up, stating that if their packer is not moved in xx amount of time that they will be fined.

LOL, I love this... we'll log in and see yellow lines around stables, teleporters and buildings and little "no parking" signs. Maybe parking meters around raw material/tool vendors for the grinders... And maybe handicap parking for those on dial-up or bad connections.

I was in Thesos the other day and there was 15 packers in a perfect line in front of the stables. It looked like a used car lot. I was looking for npc's in green suits to make a sale but they were on a coffee break or something.

Help control the animal population, please spade or neuter your pet!

I'm glad this issue is the "Rant of the Day"... it means people are playing!

Because moaning about the game is part of the fun.

Plus the fact that if this is the worst we can piss and moan about, then it means that other wise we are satisfied with the game.
