I've been following SoR for over a year now. I've only been paying to play SoR for about 7 weeks now, but I did play through all of OB as Rabid, Peregrin, Imafreak, and Fulkari. I thought about buying the game when it was released in September but decided to wait for the first few patches to fix any "major" bugs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm do not disagree that there should be more content added according to what is promised by Neverax and from what I've followed in the forums and since OB closed and went into FB, and there definitely needs to be more frequent events. My biggest problem is lack of events to supplement and add to player/guild sponsered events, more than a contest giving away prizes. Additional content, I'm willing to be more patient with because I don't want it being introduced being really buggy. I can wait for 3 months for outposts, but please don't tell me there won't be any events till then.
Sankari, EQ2 has problems. I've got friends that have left due to those problems, but of course, EQ2 has more players to loose than SoR and SoE's money to back it.
Tetra and Sankari, your telling me you don't want a liason between the devs and the players.
I do know about this issue. It it one that has concerned me back in OB as to whether or not SoR would be ready even when Nevrax pushed back the release date till September. Hence forth why I waited to buy it till January. I'm not saying you guys and gals aren't enjoying the game either or that you are whining. On the contrary. I did say you are entitled to your opinion. I'm just saying that let's see what is posted by Xavier in answer to the questions in the next couple of weeks before totally shooting down Xavier and what he communicates back to us thats all.
No, not at all, i like to see the middleman there - definately better than nothing for sure.
I'm not saying EQ2 doesn't have problems - seriously, don't get me wrong there. Likewise with WoW, you get to lvl 60 and you find there is little to do except join a hardcore raiding guild or start an alt (and the raid bugs arn't worth mentioning except to say they are pretty much gamebreaking). What i'm talking about is the lack of anything interms of patches.. I mean seriously, the content in the patches are pretty lacking and have been since launch.
Granted, they do put things in, but the actual weight of content seems so low, it's just not funny. Yes, they fix bugs... well some of them. But they could of done so much more with the rites when they were introduced (and lets be honest, they (the rites) are nothing more than quests which add something to your ency).
So, we go back to the outposts, and we are lead to believe that they (the outposts) will be awesome, and fullfill all are online dreams (again reading the hype). After the Rites... i'm not so sure.
And Jak it doesn't take much to keep a game running true - but it takes alot more to keep a game running and add all the different features such as outposts plus existing bug-fixes and additional bug-fixes uncovered when new features are released.
What i was getting at regarding the story, is that only one mainstrean MMORPG to date (i think, so correct me if i'm wrong, and i'm not talking about MUD's etc..etc) has been around for that amount of time (UO). Looking at the way the game (so far) has been patched / new content added, the goodbyes of so many people (yes other people join and say nowt), the games released and the games on the horizon - will Ryzom last the 8 years? And if so, how will it compare with regards to what was promised and what will "make do"?
Maybe it's time for me to end the subs.
