Although there’s been some questioning of the list of names that has been published in this thread, I think it’s actually very accurate (of the four people classed as ‘Unknown’, two were definitely defending, by the way): This actually indicates a very even match to me,
I would say that Karavan do outnumber Kamists in general. The Karavan have a larger advantage in GMT-4 to GMT-7 timezones. This battle time was chosen by the Kamist attackers to negate that advantage. However, KoO still didn't muster more homins. Some other Kamist guilds have mustered more support at some battles.

Politics on Atys is not black and while. New folks should know that the Karavan itself is divided into KA and non-KA guilds. The KA guilds have been the ones attacking outposts in Fyros and Zorai lands (with an exception or two). The non-KA Karavan guilds are mainly Tryker and, in general, are not fighting outside the lakelands and have fought against the KA on occasion. There are also a fair proportion of homins in Neutral guilds. Did that help?

This was not something that I was at all aware of, so I thank you for this information.

I guess I was just trying to make a point of the fact that I could / would equally have gone Kami if I had chosen a race other than Matis: There must be plenty of new blood entering the game (much like myself) who are in fact taking the Kami path (much like Wolfies): For me, going Karavan was pretty much race / RP related, rather than a thought of "everybody else is Karavan, so I might as well be".

In fact, had I been aware of the numbers attached to these factions, it's very likely that I would have chosen Kami instead (and I can't be alone in that thinking).

I have never been a huge fan of the PvP implementation in Ryzom, previous to moving here I played online FPS games, and there is no way a level/equipment based game can match those for fairness or balance.
As far as Im concerned, PvP isnt, and never was, what Ryzom is all about, so all this fuss and focus is missing the strengths of the game.
If however, PvP is a deciding feature for you, joining kings of oblivion was probably a good choice, as they are a gingo of a guild, extremely aggro and immune to fear :p - but not something reasonable people want to have around. Ciizens of Matis was similar on the Karavan side, not sure who if anyone, has replaced them.

go ingame and type /who just after you type /chatLog
Your response is not acceptable. Later in this thread someone else indicates that they took screens of /who's throughout the battle. That's a good first step, but they too are not independent.

As for your language skills, the proper statement should be "do not know anything." Do not know nothing means I know everything and that is definitely not the case.

Tell you what. Let's compare CVs and I know hands down I'm more qualified than you to comment on the proper way to gather and report on data. It's part of what I do for a living. Now, what do you do?

Hello all. This post is lil late here imo couse i see that ppl r talkin more about Spires then this first subjct at then and.But I wanna tell my life story a lil (maybe it will help build a lil hope to some kamis and karas too). When i came to mainland Infinity was here and kamis were the superpower and i wont lie at the begginin I was thinkin same thing as u do Wolfie but 1 day was diggin in Yrkanis area and i was playing with all the bottons (trying to figure whats what) and i turned my PvP tag on so about 3-4 min later i get ganked im new to online games i didnt know nothing (still donno much) so i was in state of shock what happened so i spawn and go back to diggin about 10 min later i get ganked again ( btw it was very fanous Infinity guy) so i asked my friend Aneethin whats going on he came to me and he saw that im taged and he told me yet at same time he got really pissed that very high lvl player ganked a noob digger and wont lie once i foundout whats going on i got pissed to (now i dont anymore if u taged u go down) but i hete PvP i kill only taged kamis in Yrkanis (if i can :P ) but anyways that incidet and seing the power that kamis had drove me to become a power lvler. And back in those days kamis didnt cut much slack to us too so imo if u guys r loosin and i have to agree with Nookie if u loose its ur own fault we were under dog now its our time to rule the lands. So all i can say keep ur head high and ur swords deanw and do ur best.
Behind a rolling homin there is a running kincher.

if i say "not" was typo from rewriting, you probably dont believe me, so i just say ty for correcting. english is not my primary language.

it does not matter what i do in RL, it matter what i know about Ryzom.
/who is only way to get user count in region. there is no escape from that list.
if you know better reliable way (except lineing all users up for headcount), then pls share.

Haven't all been said by now?

I mean 13 pages of this stuff, I mean, I check the forums a lot, but I am sure I havent read even 25% of this thread! Is it really important if the kami was outnumbered or that the karavan are organized better?

Please play the game and have fun! So much better having fun then bashing each other on the forums. (Or am I just weird to think like that?)

Time to log in now!

Ditto.

The re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-beating of the forum-PvP mektoub is getting old. You people and your necrophilia... :p

Coming in late, but my 2 dappers...

It's called path formation.

Whenever there is freedom to choose sides and for consequences to follow, a trend will develop. Then people start following the trend, and the trend becomes more ingrained. Soon, almost everyone is going one way, because it's the easiest/most accessible/most appealing.

Without some counterbalance to help the underdog, it's kind of a natural result that one side will snowball at some point.

WoW attempted to solve this issue in battlegrounds by capping how many of each side could come in... and there were still problems when one faction was more numerous (which it almost always was.) Now they are attempting to even things out by allowing cross-server battlegrounds; there will still be an imbalance, but vast numbers will help smooth things out.

Unless there is a compelling reason to fight as kami, nobody will. Personally, I have been debating faction: my first impression was to go kami, but considering the restricted possibilities that would offer... I'm here to have fun, and trying to find the rare other guildmate or faction member sounds geared to make the experience more frustrating.

Story and character is nice, but I want to have fun; I make my story and character with an eye towards having the most fun.

I do agree with the point that 'even karavan folks should want a strong kami presence.' I think the developers should consider a 'keel' to the game PvP, some sort of natural counterweight to keep things from tipping too far one way or the other.
