Just something I keep hearing I want to comment on... ---The war is meant to end---

Ok... Well is it meant to end BEFORE spires? that makes no sence at all.

What happens if you(the Kara) DO win all the OPs? most Kami will leave or switch sides... minus a few diehards that don't mind digging and crafting... But then because there are so few Kami what of spires? all owned by Kara... so what happens to those few Kami that now can't dig in there own lands? or have to trek back and forwards everytime there bag is full... OR can dig in PR ... Which as a lower lvl person is not so fun... They will probably leave or switch sides too ... Seeing as to get PR you need to be factioned...

so after all that Kara will have won... Then what? back to the old ways of doing nothing but grind o.O... Big woop!

I really hope I am wrong about this but seeing as spires is FvF I don't see it being very fun at all at this rate.

Hm, well, this is a complete guess but it could just be because the declaring guild is american and for them its a nice handy 9pm.

Maybe they even realised that if euro guilds are going to be declaring at 9am UK (which is 1-to-4am in the states depending on timezone) they would really much rather pick the time they attack to suit them. On that note, the FF attack is way early morning for me, so have fun kids I'll read about it when I wake up.

Just joking of course... :)

As Jyudas rightly pointed out, Anissa's thought is insightful. My take on the OP battles is this. The Karavan have what might be called "extra capacity" that they (unintentionally) turn on or off depending on the situation. They naturally enjoy a good fight, and even better winning a good fight.

If a battle is obviously going to be a slaughter, the Karavan extra capacity is not called out, guild members at the battle don't call for guildmates to join a "great fight," and people at the battle wander off saying "you guys can handle this bunch." When the battle is a close one, people naturally get on the chat urging their mates to "get over here, it's a great battle." And so the tide turns enough to make a great close battle. The Kami on the other hand, do not have the extra capacity to call out. The Kami can call out for everyone to show up, but no matter how many show up, the Karavan have the extra capacity to keep the battle tilted their way.

As DT and others have pointed out in other threads, if the KA really wanted to take over all the OP's they could do so in short order. But they want a good battle like everyone does. And so the natural tendency for people is to create as good a battle as possible, but to win enough times to make if fun as Anissa pointed out.

(Of course I'm just speculating, I've not been in many OP battles nor been in any large guild, I'm just a lurker).

Why is there acceptance of some "list" that was put together? Was it produced by an independent individual? Was it then confirmed for accuracy and completeness by an independent individual? I doubt it, so chuck it. Can't rely on data gathered in such a sloppy manner.

If you think you are "cool" because you dont RP...yet spend hours and hours watching your little toon dig imaginary rocks out of imaginary dirt, but someone who says "thee & thou" is a geek...uhh...yeah, do the math.

akede wrote:ooc: 5th point and not sure how to put it in RP terms is the resulting Faction war over the OPs. While the lore and Saga pointed to guild v. guild mechanic, the devs had to realize that alliances may form by Alliance and that it might be faction v faction until one side won.
I have to wonder if the very nature of OP's encourages alliances and FvF rather than the originally planned GvG.

Think about it for a second. Each OP produces cats (and possibly other resources) within a very specific level band. As an example the bunnies OP turns out Q200 cats faster than we can use them.

But it doesn't produce any other cats, therefore it encourages us to form alliances with other guilds to protect each others OPs, and to trade the resources so that we all get a good spread of levels in the items we have access to.

Hence the solidarity seen with Kara. If they have enough for their own needs via trade, what is the point of infighting?

That may become strictly end game material. Since any XP / items gained in a R2 scenario do not remain with the character, there is a tremendous penalty in terms of character progression if you undertake a R2 scenario at mid levels.

Sure it's all good fun at the time, but do you really want to play for long periods with the equivalent of infinite DP.

<way off topic>
OTOH, that does create an interesting thought about R2 scenarios. Death is completely meaningless in them. Respawn and get DP? Lose Exp? You're going to lose it anyway when the scenariois over.
</way off topic>

Not necessarily a bad thing, but it could have an impact on how people play in R2 scenarios.

The plan is to reward time spent in R2 scenarios with XP catalyzers to make back that lost time leveling.

Interesting. This has the stench of an exploitable game mechanic. In the words of a quote from ID's game Doom, "It stinks like rotten meat."

I just hope Nevrax are planning somthing to prevent R2 becoming free XP cats for all.

-- Edit --

Which is a rather impolite way of asking how are they planning on determining how many XP cats I get and what level they are.
