Aha, nope. Sometimes just holding on to the date you promised is more important than a couple of more bugs. Imagine how you would react if the patch was 2 days late and still had some bugs (less than now, but you wouldn't know that). Welcome to software development :D
Not if they told us WHY they were delaying it. I for one would be perfectly happy if they said "look guys there are some bugs we need to fix before we release patch 2, it'll be a few days."

Just like they did with the original release.

And for the record, I work in software development. :)

Would make all quotes wrong, I would be over-delivering and under-budget. What software on time, in budget and no bugs! Never, no can't let that happen. No No No...... trys to rid himself of the nightmare senario...... they would expect it, like, everytime!

My point is Philu that there will always be bugs. I just think people will be more disappointed when they don't get the release on the promised date AND find some bugs than when they get the release in time AND find bugs.

We'll just have to disagree on that one then!

I will never accept that it is OK to release software with bugs you know about. VERY bad practice IMHO.

I think the Ryzom community is sensible and mature enough to accept a delay while Nevrax fix something, as long as they keep us INFORMED of the reasons for the delay.

That sounds plausible. I just never can get Marketing/Sales off my back when it comes to deliveringday :D

Yep Golden rule of Software....

Deliver when promised, make the Promise is as important as the delivery.

Thinks back in time....

Promised Delivery of Patch 1 2-3 weeks from release.

People complained that the game was release too early, still in beta, why should they have to wait.

Patch 1 was delivered late....

Complaints about late delivery and bugs and general whines that other games were better.

Patch 2 delayed by the late delivery of Patch 1 and other issues need fixing that were seen as 'more important'

Patch 2a, b, c annouced

Some complaints, mostly general excitement

Patch 2a delivered on time, with only minor issues.

Some hardware issues and software issues ..... Admin team work their socks off and fix these again in hours, instead of weeks.

Fixes release to most of the issues. Small managable, controlled fixes, no huge game play swings.

We have a 1 week build up before we get the 'real game driven' content!

From this point in .... hold on to you hats becuase once this thing starts rolling it won't be stopped!

I have been happy with just playing with the mechanics of the game, how the structure fits together and getting to know the other players. After many months OB, FBT, FB and Release ... I still don't fully understand everything in the game and I am still finding suprises (nice one) everytime I play. None of it is the same stuff with different text.

With the Raid/Invasions, CSR driven events, Player driven events, exploring, helping other, making friends, oh yes and lvling ofcourse ...... I have been fair to busy to worry about anything else.

1) Game doesnt start in full screen... updating my drivers but doesnt seam justified. I have to change the refresh rate in game to brute force it into full screen mode.
A permament fix for this:

Go into Configure Ryzom (from the start menu)

Click on "Display"

Under "Driver" click on Direct3d (assuming it is currently Auto or OpenGL)

Problem solved :D

This used to drive me nuts too!
