I have finally resolved that issue. I'm so happy. I'm finally able to get into the online chat

To fix this:

1. Go to the System tab in the bottom left corner.
2. Type "showmenu" in the input window (without the quotes). Hit enter.
3. Left click on the Main menu above the topic window.
4. Uncheck Autoconnect.
5. Click Connect.
6. You should be able to type your username and password.

Username and Password can be saved in Klients for autologins by:

1. Left clicking on the Main Menu
2. Mouse over Plugins> and click "MtpChat setup..."
3. Enter Login and Password then click the Verify button at the bottom of the window.

I can't get the client working either. This is how it looks like for me.

which password is used here?

the Ryzom board password is not accepted.

the game password has capital letters, so is not accepted.

how can I log in?

Addition:

If you autosaved your wrong login/password once, you'll get to the point draggi described in his topic start. You might also get this when you change your ingame password.
In this case, there are two possible solutions:

1. unpack chat.klients.us.zip again (if unsure, overwrite every file)
2. Open plugs.ini, scroll to the very bottom and delete the two lines starting with "MtpChat Login=" and "MtpChat Password="

Ok, seriously, what if we don't get a Main menu? I only get a System Menu. I posted a screenshot on how Klients looks for me about 2 posts above.

paradise, just posted a reply in another thread, but in case, all you have to do is unzip it again with folders. Most of those files should be in subfolders -- a lot should be in one called Plugins, which is why klients.exe can't find them.

Firstly, I would like to ask why this thread is here in the General section when there is a Tech help section devoted to this? The reason I ask is that I've been asking for help over there in the Tech section for days no and I've gotten no replies from anyone that can help me. Only to find that everyone is over here talking about the same problem. Frustrating.

I was in the earlier closed betas. I was in the FBT. My account got carried over to retail. In the early beta I know that I was using 'knitcucu' to sign into Klients as knitcucumber wouldn't fit. I vaguely remember there was a time that I was using the whole 'knitcucumber', but I can't remember exactly when.

When I open up Klients now it gives me the option to fill in my login. I've tried 'knitcucu', 'knitcucumber', 'knitcucumbe' and many other variations. 'knitcucumber' is the name I use to sign into the game and the forums. I never even get a chance to enter a password because Klients always tells me that my login in invalid, or that only valid accounts can login.

I have gone into the file that y'all have told me to go into and I've cleared out the residual login/password info each and every time that I've tried a different one. No luck.

Recently I wiped the entired harddrive and installed XP for the first time and did a fresh install of Klients. Couldn't log into it after the game went retail on the old version of my harddrive (ME), can't log into it now on the new version (XP pro sp2). It's not corrupt. THere's something wrong with my account. I'll try wiping it and reinstalling it if I have to, but I know that it's not the program.

I have ZoneAlarm, AVG virus, and a router. All of which worked just fine with it on ME and are set up exactly the same way on XP. XPs pop-up blockers and virus stuff and firewall are all turned off. It should not be a problem on my end.

While I'm here. I made a different post over in the Tech threads about not being able to stay connected. I've sent many emails, contacted a few GMs in game. Nobody has gotten back to me. Nobody has even been able to come close to helping me even try to start fixing either of my problems. Shadowthorn tried, but it didn't work. Frustratingly enough, I can't connect to Klients to ask for help with Klients or the game.

It appears to be a video problem of some sort. OpenGL crashes 5-15 minutes in, D3D plays fine, but all the words are missing in the menus.

Help me please. *grumble*
