One harvester carrying 200 bulk in supreme mats? Sounds like a pretty tempting target. Why bother killing 10,000 wombais to get 12 basic linings when one harvester has 400?

I didn't see anywhere in the notes that stated corpses could be looted...

I would never do that...and any DoZ member caught doing it would be treated most harshly...but I guess there are some people out there who might be willing to be ostracized by the community for a few bucks.

A forced poll, similar to the bonk bonk on the head/i like the sparklies thing that was in existance through much of beta.

ATS server login is still unstable, atleast for me, or I would be hitting it hard to understand the 'thought process' behind what they are attempting to accomplish.

One thing I have noticed, Override doesn't get to involved with anything major on the threads unless it really bothers him, and for him to step up, it really says something about how the new feature will effect the high end players.

If this is bothering a high level forager, imagine what it is doing to us lower than him by over 130 levels.

I am of the same oppinion as Override at the moment when it comes to open pvp in the roots.

Start with the outposts and GvG, baby steps developers, baby steps, just because there is a diving board on mount everest's peak, doesn't mean you should try to dive from it to the atlantic ocean on your first trip.

I don't think making any zone in the game full time PvP area is a good idea. The prime roots are a very dangerous region, and I've only visited a tiny part. They are so dangerous, that I only see a tiny few people visit them now because of all the patrols and other aggresive, super powerful mobs that inhabit them. Add PvP and I think you would see even less down there.
It might be possible for a large group to fight their way down there and actually control parts of the roots, and this may happen in the future, overall it's not a good place for PvP.

Griefers and gankers and whatever other problems plauge PvP in MMO's aside, even those that are just trying to help their side, are going to drive pve out of the roots. It's very hard to have a civilized area and a contested area in the same place. Characters trying to level, who spend hours leveling, don't want to do that in a PvP enviornment.

In my opinoin, PvP works best when its constructed. A zone or area instead of being contested at all times in a constant state of war, should mostly be safe from PvP, until there is a battle. The Kami and Karavan don't seem to be in a state of open warfare. They don't like each other, they distrust each other, but they aren't waging war all over the lands. Hostilities may break out from time to time, and in those cases, a zone might be made a PvP area to resolve those issues.

bump that!

Zzeii - Please make that poll if you know how...maybe:
How do you feel about open PvP in PR?
A. Bring it!
B. Ok if there's a safe area by portals [such as those free from aggro atm]
C. Ok if it is only in select areas [near outposts], leaving the rest of the PR non-PvP
D. Keep the PR PvP free!
E. No RP PvP or I quit, no, I mean it this time...

Just curious as to why we need so many threads on open PvP in the Prime Roots?

The Prime Roots border regions between different races and tribes with differing allegiances. With faction rivalry becoming ever more present as the game progresses, these borderlands are to become more contested. It doesn't mean materials won't be accessible, and with a current lack of any incentive/rewards for player vs player combat I seriously doubt you will find people heading to roots just to pk unsuspecting foragers.

So... when the changes come into play... and I find myself in need of some prime root materials for crafting... I'll teleport down there like normal. Then I'll type "/who" to see who else is in the region. If there's alot of people I'm unfamiliar with then I'll probably wait until it's a bit quieter to go foraging. I'll pack my blade and armour when I go foraging just incase there's a wise-guy looking for a piece o' the Fuzz. Some days when plenty of friends are foraging we'll most likely form groups to watch eachothers backs should the need arise.

PvP In the Prime Roots won't change things down there much for now. There aren't that many people going down there to hunt, the risk of being hunted by the Kitin Patrols seems deterrent enough for now. Not many people who can access the Prime Roots easily at this time care to go there unless they have to anyways, unless they are escorting guildmates or friends to new areas, new spawn points, giving friends/guildies a tour of where to find whichever materials they seek to forage.

I think even after faction based PVP is implemented and permitted in the Prime Roots we will still find these regions as sparsely populated with the few lonely hardworking foragers we normally find there.

I for one will not be seeking to pk any other foragers in the prime roots just for the hell of it. Whether the other foragers be of Kami, Karavan or neutral alignment, at this point in the game it is non-consequential, and there is no cause for conflict.

Ofcourse with all that said, with pvp enabled in these regions I would still expect the occasional random player to try their luck pk'ing foragers in the Prime Roots. I wish them luck, they'll need it. ;)

At this point with Cerest saying nothing's concrete, there are a couple people pushing for corpse looting in some form. And if you loot a corpse, you pop onto a vendor and dump the mats for money. Who's to know where you got them and how?

Tin.

None of those people pushing for corpse looting struck me as being very bright...

Responsible PvP players have no problem with a no-loot rule set. thats not the point of PvP from a Roleplay sense.

Oh and Fuzz, I am still wearing that set of White Matis Heavy you made for me, great stuff, thanks again. :)
