Well, where the hell all are you people? I can't find you anwhere.eschiava wrote:Personally, I will never be any where near the level of the power gamer, and I likely will never belong to a power gamer guild. So, I tend to ignore the top, I'll never get there, they pay me little or no attention. But I can still enjoy the low-mid game. There are plenty of low-mid levelers out there, why don't we form a second tier of guilds and enjoy grouping with like leveled player, RPing with like leveled players, and eventually PvPing as well?

Re: The Tail of The Comet
Oddly enough....the world is all about cliques...rl not just games. Or it could be your overall demeanor that is causing you issues in finding groups/guilds/people to play with. You don't sound like a very friendly person by the overall 'tone' of this post. *shrugs*drech wrote:I tried that approach, started Tribal Rage initially as a guild for people who want to group. Not one person expressed interest. Ok, so maybe the idea was bland. Posted a recruitment in the guilds section in an RP style to get people fired up.
Not a single response.
/shrug, I'm done trying to find groups/guilds/people to play with. SoR is all about cliques. That precedent has been set and I'm not interested in kissing someones ass to get into their guild so I can be forced to harvest or craft (94 melee and not interested in anything else).
Poker of things, caster of sparklies, maker of stuff, digger of dirt, wanderer of paths....
Oh yea, and Princess~

Actually, I'm a really nice person, at least that's what most people tell mezzeii wrote:Oddly enough....the world is all about cliques...rl not just games. So much for reading emotion into text on a message board.

Re: The Tail of The Comet
Can I make a suggestion?
Instead of asking 'are there any groups going?' which I've found doesn't seem to work too well, how about simply announcing a group is forming at X location, all levels welcome.
Surprising the response you can get sometimes with that approach. I think it's psychological - if you ask for a group, people soloing think 'I'm not in a group' and don't respond. If you announce you are forming a group, they are more likely to want to join.
Might be worth a go, you've got nothing to lose by trying it.

Call me Legion, for we are many...
Re: The Tail of The Comet
Thanks for the suggestion, your response is honestly appreciated, but having played MMOs for many years, I'm just surprised at how closed off the population of this game (maybe just this server, not sure) is.lazarus wrote:Can I make a suggestion?

But I'll have to defer to Zzeii, only she can tell me what kind of person I am, having never met me and all Oh now, I'm kidding for crying out loud!

btamilio wrote:A while back, there was an interview with David Cohen of Nevrax discussing some of the long-range plans for the game. One of the things that caught my eye then was the following excerpt, translated from the original French:
As a casual gamer -- one who has muscled his way to 75 without much grouping, I have come to the realization of just how far behind I am, and how far behind I will continue to be as the weeks go on. After forming powergamer guilds and helping each other out, there are already many players 200+ (or closing in on it) in multiple skills in 6 weeks of release. The Head of the Comet is already established -- it's a few tightly knit guilds who are deaf to the rest of the game -- and it's getting pretty crowded up there.
Anyway, What I'm getting at is that the players who have the time are only widening the gap between the haves and havenots. I see a lot of lost people running around trying to find people or things to do and banging their head against the wall. Not a lot of tools in-game to really help them out, and without any real endgame incentive to get to 250 (REAL PvP, cool weapons/armor, Spaceships, Free Pizza, whatever), and a feeling of inadequacy with so many uberly-high people around rubbing it in, what's keeping the "Tail of the Comet" from falling off completely?
In any event, Kitin Meat Shield was not what I had in mind; Anyone else?
*jaws drop*
As someone that has been in game every single day since NA release, and I see you are level 75 - which is 10 levels higher than I am... I have to stand on my tip-toes just to see the bottom of a casual gamers foot!
Yet here I am.. I started an old beta guild (max members: 5) when I wanted to quit, somehow I got a few good people interested in making the guild stick. We have 17 now, lovely people all of them.
I guess in a way it is about who you know. Some of the friends you make in noobland will inevitably be bigger, faster, stronger or better crafters. Treat them nice, and they may help you when you are in need. You could also guide the higher levels from other lands that are visiting to you, it is oft a kind and helpful stranger reaps benefits beyond their imagination. (Don't worry guys, I help because I like to help )
Also, look at all those "cliques" you are discussing. I was in one, I was invited into another. These "cliques" are slowly disentegrating away. The powergamers are also slowly getting bored and cancelling their accounts.
One last thing about these "cliques". Some people don't like to group/guild with others that just want the 1337 XP, some of those folk can't stand hunting with people that really don't care. If you have one person wanting to run off and find bigger badder, while someone else wants to stay where they're at and hunt while they can.. you have a problem.
Yes, it's a bit difficult to find the right group of people right now, at least in Trykerland. Very few people are spoken to in region when they ask. Perhaps they are spoken to in private, but the times I send private tells trying to help it sounds like I'm the only one.

Re: The Tail of The Comet
I've actually been accused of being a l33t dewd, lol.
I log in, I do what I enjoy (combat). I play for many, many hours because I just can't get enough of the game.
Somehow, this makes me elitist and a powergamer. I'm sorry to say that people seem to auto-hate and assume because I level sorta fast (not fast at all compared to some) that I am a 'kiddo' or 'bot user'. This kind of attitude is what kills it for me.
I just want to get out, meet people, fight with them, and have some fun. I just haven't been that lucky in the grouping or guild departments. I'm not a powergamer, and hopefully those cliques are fading away, because they make it impossible for new players to come into the game unless they come with lots of friends.
BTW Neiana, I always enjoy your posts, just wanted you to know.

Re: The Tail of The Comet
Personally I wouldn't envy anyone that is really high up. Its not like they got there with hard work.
They got those lvls because of a flaw in the system thats how I got so many easy lvls.
So I wouldn't plan on catching up anytime soon or ever again cause things just go uphill from patch1.

Re: The Tail of The Comet
I think the original poster is miss interpreting what the game developer is saying. Hes not saying the ubergamers will be the head of the comet, nor is he saying low level people will be the tail of the comet....what hes saying is for those people who play more, they will influence the outcome of the game more. Ryzom is supposed to have a story that will develop as events happen throughout the atys world.
What the developer is saying for the people who play more often (not necessarily the people of high level) they will influence the history of the game more...while the casual gamer will still have a place in the world more as an observer but not any less part of the game. That doesnt mean the casual gamers wont have fun...there will be history developing all around them which they can join in and enjoy as it develops. That means the game will be fluid and the world will be changing all the time. Wether your the one who changes the flow of history or the one watching it all happen what does it matter? well all be part of it and have to deal with the changes it causes.
Somewhere on this forum I read an exerpt from one of the game designers that basically said that during events that influence the game history gm's will be present to insure that the outcome fits the history path the designers intended. Once the story begins to unfurl I believe whether your an uber level character or a loley peon of one the history will add to the fun of the game.
