And "these things other MMO´s have" are just what Ryzom in the minds of many of us, does definetly NOT need.
It does not need to be made "easier", it does not need to be made "PvP friendlier", it does not need to be "instanced", it does not need to be packed with "exchangable Hero-Quests", it does not need to be toned down, so it can run on weaker machines, it does not need to be made "Mod-able", it does not need to be moulded into a run of the mill clone MMO.
(Some smaller things might admittedly be helpful though.)

What it needs is someone, or many, that will take up its original vision and built upon it. Take up where the first Devs had to leave it. Push trhough with all the innovative and creative Ideas that have come up during its inception.

Work on the Ring, take adivce from those who want to help with it and prevent the abuse of it not by shutting it down, but by takeing real measures against it.
(still want to kick someones wise-a$$ for fidling too much with the ring >((
Thank you $&(?§*)

And while we still have hope enjoy :)

quests are boring anyhow so that doesnt need to be enchanted, i think the whole of atys is 1 big instance so, pvp is nice interface is nice enough so no mods needed as for my opinion. However, i know Ryzom could use lots of little improvements to make it better, still lots of bugs there to be fixed.
This game is based on a fantasy world but it tries to stay realistic, so no 2 handed sword from a jubo when you loot it, i think thats awsome. the big improvements would be like underwater diving or... maybe re-doing how the characters look and walk making them look more realistic. Uhmm.. kitins do look awfull.. anyways, i haven't played ryzom for almost 5 months now and when i came back the server went down and still hasn't gone up. all of this bankrupt is making me sick and them france are so slow, not even giving us any news of whats going on. i get sick of it!

Hey! Are you calling me ugly?!

I wouldn't mind animation updates, and more control.... but I love the look of the characters.

Hey, I like the Tryker gals, almost as much as the Fyros; I think they're cute! I've played several other games, and, quite frankly, I miss Atys :'(

I disagree about quests/missions. Without them, the game is just hollow, and it's only deep value comes from RPing. So I guess this game is ideal for RPers, and no one else.
I don't think it would detract from the RPers to provide quests/missions for those who don't RP. ... I suppose it would lower the odds of another player being RP-interactive... that could be solved with more servers. RP and non-RP.
I do think it does need to be set up to handle more players though. You just can't keep subscribers with insufferable lag.

As a roleplayer, who has given a lot of thought to this issue, I think having more missions is fine. But they should be very unlike the typical quests found in other games. No fake-epic "you just saved Davae alone for the 12,391st time, here's an uber sword as your reward." They should be completely believable, suitable to the setting, should not discourage community involvement, and should not in the least way harm crafting. In fact, Ryzom already has the perfect solution: Rites. There just need to be a lot more than the mere twelve that already exist.

This is true. But, correct me if I'm wrong, you seem to be implying that this "insufferable lag" already exists. Living an ocean and a continent away from the servers, I've never experienced much connection lag, not even during events or outpost battles, except on rare occasions when a server is hiccuping or there's a problem somewhere between it and me. Or that long, extreme lag that was on Arispotle recently, but that had never happened before and the extenuating circumstance for it is obvious. The servers were even more stable during Nevrax's tenure, by the way.
