if registry key "PB" exists under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nevrax\ryzom", remove it (to be safe, do search for Nevrax and well... it should be safe to remove them)
So what are these folders with the random names? Doesn't seem like anything the game would put in - but then why would "malware" target such a small game like SoR?

*confused*

I'm not sure if the folders are really relevant to this, but a registry key named "PB" sounds like an abbreviation for "Permanent Ban", which looks to me like something from some old code that slipped into somewhere.

It might be the client that I was using. I was using the old 'updated' one from February 6, 2007 (*See news from February 6, 2007). I use this one because of my connection (dial-up at the moment), and I have problems playing when something is downloading in the background. I prefer to have the full client downloaded before playing.

Any other suggestions?

Darn, that didn't work for me. Also tried rolling the system back a few days. That made the login screen completely garbled.

I'll have to do it the hard way...uninstall then d/l reinstall and wait for all the patches to update again.

these 3 are markers. if one exists, other 2 will be created and PermaBan message is shown.

also, if you get PermaBan message in screen, it messes up game files (bnp's in data folder), so you are forced to download almost everything once again. (or it did for me few min ago ;-)

backup your ryzom folder first (if you have silan install, it's ~3GiB, if you have full setup, it's ~6GiB) before you try again.

Well, third time was not the charm, lol! I have bad luck I guess.

Last thing I can do is flush the router, maybe that will work. Don't know why a router has anything to do with it though.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks.

Yeah, baki, do everything suggested here including the router flush once you delete all ryzom stuff. Think that may do it for ya. CSR's said I had it real bad so you are prolly in same boat I was. Good Luck :)
