Just a suggestion - try going to "Configure Ryzom" and specifying OpenGL.

With my gfx card its recommend to use direct3D . I allways had it on either direct3d/openGL but changed it to only Direct3D.

But I will try this suggestion and if its not working I go back to both .

Keep you posted

Aye. I use an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro myself, and have it on Auto, which seems to use Direct3D by preference (not techie enough to know, really). At odd moments in the past, though, between patches, I've known better stability when forcing it to OpenGL; sometimes with some odd effects such as blank textures, but always faster in notorious places such as Zora where a building might take seconds to appear under Direct3D.

No sound
I would also suggest you check your version of DirectX. "My" DXDIAG says my version for DX display is version : 6.14.10.6660.
I am running DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

:o DT has reminded me that I keep mistaking Direct3D for DirectX.

Did a driver update , but was getting even worse. I was in the possibility to install an old gfx card . It's an Geforce with 64Mb on board.

At first Ryzom wouldn t start because of the outdated driver. After updating this I could play for 2 days ( Friday/Saturday) with only 2 crashes.

The last crash happend after i enabled sound and gave the Nel report with the ealier metioned driver line.

Today Sunday i get various types of crashes the ones with a Nel report have a access violation report.

At this moment i can trealy think what i can do more .

Some does ..............?

After my previous post I remebered thet I have a little tool on my mainboard setup disk which monitor tempetures, so I installed this and when I start running Ryzom it showed tempetures of around 55 degrees Celcius. It even came 2 on 60 degrees. This was Sunday early evening when tempetures were allready going down in my house. After that the CPU tempetures were going down during the evening (below 50 degress). and I didn t have a single crash after that.

I have a strong feeling this is the cause of my crashing.

I now have an extra fan installed and will try my other gfx card later today and see how tempetures will be with this.

Yesterday i tried for a moment to play with sound enabled but this still make my game crash with this "sound_driver_fmodd.cpp" line in the Nel report.

This I will look into later on.

Playing with sound enabeld and CPU tempetures aroudn 50 degrees didn t gave any problems after that.
